Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 Oh my, Dusty finally listened. Murton's batting second, Cedeno's batting eighth, and Mabry's in the lineup and nowhere close to the top of it. He must want his job.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 But naturally, they only make Hernandez, a guy who's been notoriously bad in the first inning, throw five pitches. Dear Juan Pierre, no one's surprised by you trying to bunt anymore. Please stop.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 Call up Eric Duncan. Last I heard, he was doing great in the minors. Phillips is good defensively, but Giambi sucks when he's a DH, so I don't know if its the best decision to DH him. They need to look into finding pitching, and maybe they can move Cano to the outfield for a short time period, and have Cairo start at 2nd. Or just have Cairo play the outfield. I don't put much stock in Giambi's DH/1B splits, as that's a function of him happening to play DH more in the first half last year, and first in the second half. I'm not sure what you heard about Duncan, but his stats indicate that his OBP and slugging percentage are both under .300. The Yankees are second in the league in runs allowed, so that's not their problem. Even if it were, Jose Veras and Colter Bean are available. Here's an ideal Yankee lineup, looking at BPro's projections... C- Posada 1B- Pena 2B- Cano SS- Jeter 3B- Rodriguez LF- B. Williams CF- Damon RF- Thompson DH- Reese The trouble is that two of those guys are in Columbus. Miguel Cairo is not a better hitter than any of the scrubs currently in the outfield. Like I said before, the Bobby Abreu rumors are 100% baseless and it is probably the same for Torii Hunter. There's just no way a contending team trades a major player in May unless there's a situation where he *HAS* to go. The only player the Yankees have to trade is Philip Hughes, and that would be a mistake. Giambi's injury shouldn't be serious. What the Yankees need to do is get Andy Phillips into the lineup at first and DH Giambi. Put Bernie Williams in left. There's no reason for both Melky Cabrera and Bubba Crosby to be in the lineup. If they need a trade, look for guys like Jeff Conine. Andy Phillips is never going to be a MLB player. Ever. He's been given chances over the last two years and still can't hit anything but a fastball, and he has no plate disipline. That's an awfully harsh assessment. His projections peg him as a .255 hitter with a .317 OBP. That's not too good, but it's something in the meantime. It's not like Bubba Crosby has ever hit MLB pitching. But then again, Carlos Pena's still hitting in Columbus too.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 Os are losing again, although Hernandez just hit one over the scoreboard.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 I think Cubs are trying to get Baker fired. They have to be one of the worst hitting teams with RISP. Hernandez was clearly pitching around Mabry, but walks clog up the bases, so Mabry's hacking away at a bad 3-0 pitch. For the record, through two: Zambrano: 38 pitches Hernandez: 18 pitches

Well, when three regulars are down and you've gotten to the point where Bubba Crosby and Melky Cabrera look like regulars, why not give him the at bats and see if he learns? If you don't, why bother even keeping him on the 40 man roster? That's what bugs me about guys like Phillips. If teams think he, or Colter Bean, can't succeed in the majors despite superior minor league numbers based on scouting reports, that's all well and good. But for god sakes let them prove they can't succeed in the majors.

mike546 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 It's not even the fact that he hasn't been succesful in his career, its just hes looked so overmatched every single time hes been called up, and its just so obvious he can't hit anything off speed.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 The Yankees are going to win this one, aren't they? Clutch Jeter hits a 3-run HR in the 6th and it's 10-8. Fuck the Rangers' pitching.

To think that the Rangers had a 9-0 lead in the top of the 2nd. Posada just walked to make it 1st and 2nd no outs for the Yankees in the bottom of the sixth. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 How do you give up 9 runs to THIS Yankees team? That's ridiculous. I dunno, but 11 runs is just absurd. When Miguel Cairo strokes a 2-run go-ahead double on you, you know you've got some bad pitching.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 11-10 Yankees. Unreal. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why the Rangers' first-place position in the AL West is nothing to put stock into.

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 Phillips is very good defensively though, but the Giambi split stuff goes past last year. Another thing, am I the only thing that likes those Man Law commercials? And is it me, but is Triple H much more likeable when he's doing something not involved with the WWE? Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 How do you give up 7 runs to the Pirates? What the hell happened to Cincy's "dangerous" offense. I knew Junior's presence would do this.
