So basically Porter told me that if I gave up beef it could help me get in better shape. Then I was told this by many other people. So I decided "what the hell?" and gave it up. I've been beef free for a week now.

Has anyone else decided to give up the red meat? Was it tough? Did you notice any physical changes(i'm not just talking exterior. i heard it's better for your intestines)? Did you ever just have to have a hamburger?

No, I'd probably refuse to do this, but it's nice to lessen the intake.

Steak and burgers are just too good to give up. And I eat a pretty balanced diet anyways, my problem with losing the 10-15 pounds I want to has more to do with getting off my lazy ass and exercising.

I once went a year where (if you don't count the meat at Taco Bell) I could count the number of times I had red meat on my fingers . I did some jogging a couple of time a week and by the end I the year I had lost about 30 lbs.

I'm not sure how much cutting out meat had to do with the weight loss, but I know physically "felt" better even though I mentally really missed hamburgers.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with eating lean beef protein.

Jerkey, roast beef, etc.

Sausage and burger is pretty high in fat, you know.

The difference between the caloric content of fat and muscle is staggering.

I've cut most of the beef out of my diet over the last few years of my life. I haven't quit it altogether, but just greatly cut down on my intake. It's gotten to the point that I buy Boca Burgers at the grocery store and grill them instead of a real meat burger. (hooking up with a vegetarian girl will have that effect on a guy).

But if I'm out for dinner, I have no problems with ordering steak tips or a burger. And eating it only a couple of times a month makes it kind of a 'treat' when I eat it.

Boca burgers are great, actually.

I usually made them in the microwave for a minute and a half (which is all I think it needS) and put it on wheat bread with lettuce, ranch and/or mustard. Good snack.

I was a vegetarian for about a month, and everyone made fun of me at my open house 'cause I'm fat and they were surprised I didn't want to drink gallons of beef gravy or some crap like that.

Love me some meat. If it can be killed, I'll probably eat it.
