I was wondering if anybody happens to know how it is determined if police that are on patrol ride alone or with another cop? I would think that how dangerous the area they are patroling, as well as budget costs re: the number of cops they hire would be 2 major factors, but I'm not really sure. Anybody else know/willing to take a guess? Thanks.

Depends on the department.

I live in a town of 110,000 people and both our municipal police department and our sheriff's department both ride alone in their police cars except in instances of rookie's training or lack of cars to go around (hardly the case since pay is dick for our law enforcement and no one wants to sign up for it).

NYC has a police force of 30'000. Once again Chazz asks another stupid question though.

And once again you took the time to read and post in my thread, so I must be doing something right despite it being so "stupid". Seriously, If you have nothing to add to the thread/question other then trolling, move along.

I guess I got more than 1 fan who apparently cares enough about me to look up my past posts. Excellent.

You're right, I guess I should be more sensitive of people like him who apparently hate the cops so much. My bad.
