Guest Report post Posted May 23, 2006 You guys, Jake Peavy just finished the 7th. Sounds meaningless, right? He has 16 strikeouts and has struck out 5 guys in a row. The craziest thing, is that he's losing! I think people should watch this one if they have the means.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 I was gonna mention that. Naturally, the guy I'm facing this week has him going. Must be frustrating as all hell to be having the game of your life and be losing.
Guest Report post Posted May 23, 2006 They fucking took him out. WHY?
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 23, 2006 He'd thrown 114 pitches.
Guest Report post Posted May 23, 2006 I'd still keep him in for another inning. He was just getting going. I mean, they put in Mark Bellhorn. I was gonna mention that. Naturally, the guy I'm facing this week has him going. Must be frustrating as all hell to be having the game of your life and be losing. I have Peavy and the other guy has Smoltz. I had El Duque going today too, so I get no wins out of two great performances.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 23, 2006 And the guy who pinch-hit for him singled to put runners on the corners. I hope Smoltz has enough left to get one more out, but I think it's time to turn it over to the bullpen.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 Orioles luck = Daniel Cabrerra going on the DL last week, calling up Hayden Penn yesterday to start tomorrow (err..Tuesday) and then Penn going on the DL today (err...Monday) with appendicitis..so now they've called up Adam Loewen although he might not make it for the start tomorrow which means that John Freaking Halama might start tomorrow. And they're losing to the Mariners. And the game isn't on TV...and I dont even feel like listening to it on XM..bleh.

Guest Smues Report post Posted May 23, 2006 In San Diego a fan ran onto the field, and now other fans are throwing bottles apparantly. Lovely.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 23, 2006 Speaking of lovely Reitsma is up in the bullpen. Can the man of 6.75 ERA hold a one run lead? TUNE INTO NITRO TO FIND OUT. Edit: Chipper pads the lead with a solo shot. Thank you Chip.
Guest Report post Posted May 23, 2006 I still can't believe that NOMAH is playing like this. He looks like '99 Nomar. Fuck that sac bunt, even though it moved two along this time. EDIT: It's funny seeing the Dodgers play this well with a total lack of power hitting. Saenz is 4th on the team with 21 RBI's, but he only has 66 AB's and 2 walks. They need to keep finding the holes and getting the bloop singles, and Kent needs to find his stroke. With Nomar and Drew healthy, this lineup is very good. Guest Smues Report post Posted May 23, 2006 Hey how about that, a 1-2-3 inning for Reitsma. Don't see that very often, but I'll take it. Braves win 3-1 despite Peavy's 16 strike outs and get above .500 again.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 My God, Peavy looked absolutely ridiculous. What a tough break that the Friars couldn't get anything goin' for him. Granted, it was Smoltz, but still... In other news, the 'Stros won and the Cardinals lost, so that helps. Thank Jeebus for the Nats and the Bucs to help us pad our record before we get to St. Louis later this week. I also learned that the Cubs have a team OBP of .301. Ouch. And I just read about how David Wells apparently dropped the name of Craig Freakin' Biggio when he was talking about guys that "might" be suspected of using steroids. Craig Biggio? In 19 seasons, he's hit over .300 twice. His highest total of homeruns is 26. I mean....Craig Biggio? Yeesh...
Bored 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 Not everyone who was/is on steroids was hitting 40+ homeruns. Pitchers and minor leaguers who will never make it to the Majors have tested positive. Not that David Wells has any clue what he's talking about.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 Yeah, he also fingered David Delucci. Disregard the implied dirtiness of that statement. It just seems that he picked really odd players to accuse.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted May 23, 2006 Q. Who the hell loses 9-1 to Florida? A. Chicago Cubs With regard to the Pierre trade, Todd Wellemeyer isn't any good, and either Pinto or Nolasco is supposed to be kind of risky, I forgot. So it's not like we got TOO fleeced. Personally, I want to know how John Koronka hasn't been the worst fucking pitcher in baseball over with the Rangers. How did THAT happen?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 Heading to the Red Barons games tonight and tomorrow. The Pirates' top pitching prospects are going, Sean Burnett tonight and Tom Gorzelanny tomorrow. Burnett's technically not a prospect, and the after-effects of his Tommy John surgery are evident in his 6.99 ERA.

He's hurt right now, so it's not a big deal, but given the rotation's struggles once again, he could've been a better alternative than Rusch, Hill, or Guzman. sfaJack 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 That's true, but I don't think a rotation of Sandy Koufax, Roger Clemens, Tom Seaver, Walter Johnson, and Cy Young himself could save the Cubs this year. But at least it'd be a fairer fight.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 I am loving this year's Red Sox team. Good defense, nice starting pitching, great bullpen (for once) - I'm not ready to declare the division theirs, but I am very optimistic about their upside. What was that about the bullpen? Right, because 4 meaningless runs in the ninth is an EXCELLENT barometer of the bullpen's effectiveness. Don't take it out on dama! He's a diehard! My question is why did Schilling go eight innings? mike himself said that the yanks are injury-riddled and starting AA players. Riske could use some work, Seanez needs to learn how to pitch. They had a six run lead into the eighth. Why risk burning out the ace in a "meaningful" May game? Dude why you gotta start shit?

The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 For no other reason, here's a quotation from one of my favorite Neifi Perez articles: Manager Felipe Alou was surprised to hear that Royals fans detested Neifi Perez during his 1 1/2 seasons in Kansas City. "Why?" Alou wondered. "Did he cork his bats when he was here?" Perez had an interesting return to Kauffman Stadium on Friday night. He got conked in the head during batting practice by a ball that Jose Cruz Jr. hit. Although he wasn't seriously hurt, Perez got a knot on his forehead so big he needed to find a bigger batting helmet to play. (..) The rap on the head did not prevent Perez from hearing the boos from the fans, but he didn't mind. He knows he didn't excel as a Royal and expected the jeers. "They didn't see the real Neifi Perez here," he said. "This is Missouri, the Show Me State, and I didn't show them."
Guest Monty Burns Report post Posted May 23, 2006 Tigers have almost as many shutouts (9) as Kansas City has wins (10). Incredible!
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 Not to skew this off onto an A-Rod tangent (again), but it's really unforutnate that he is now having to apologize for his play. It's bullshit that he is being ripped for hitting that late inning homer last night. Dumbass Steve Phillips suggested that A-Rod should have just grounded out. Are you f'n kidding me? He should start dogging it and packing in games? It's time A-Rod stopped being a pussy, went all Barry Bonds on us and just stopped giving a shit about what anyone says about him. Just go out there, hit your 40 homers, collect a paycheck and blow everyone else off.

Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 Steve Phillips said that? That's horrible..horrible analysis. I'm really rooting for A-Rod. Yes, he said that. I don't even like A-Rod. He's a pretty boy whiner with no backbone, and as a Red Sox fan, anyone wearing the pinstripes is a sworn enemy. But this shit is just ridiculous and needs to stop. I feel obligated to stand up for the guy.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 If Adande's stat just now that Big Papi only has 3 more ABs than A-Rod with men in scoring position (or was it in late games?) but has TWENTY ONE more RBI in those times was true, that's pretty staggering for the so-called MVP of 2005.
