C Dubya 04 Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Maybe there is a way that he could care less. Like if he negatively cared.
SuperJerk Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 I'm more concerned with how much Randall and Dante have aged. It might seem weird seeing two guys in their now mid to late 30's still working at a convenience store. Clerks was like 12 years ago. Another reason the movie should've been made in black and white.
The Buzz Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 I thought I read Smith say that's the point of the movie. How some of his friends have changed a lot since their 20s while a lot have stayed very much the same.
SuperJerk Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Point of the movie = Jersey Girl was a tremendous bomb and Smith needed to make a movie someone might actually want to see. Let's not kid ourselves here.
Black Lushus Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Point of the movie = Jersey Girl was a tremendous bomb and Smith needed to make a movie someone might actually want to see. Let's not kid ourselves here. you may be on to something here...Smith may not be capable of making a movie outside of the Askiewniverse. Personally, I'm surprised he hasn't done a superhero flick yet.
C Dubya 04 Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Wasn't Smith orignally supposed to do Superman, but the studio hated his script (or am I completely off base)? I actually thought Jersey Girl wasn't a bad movie.
Kaertos Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I actually think Jersey Girl is his most complete film. The peformanxes are there, the writing was good and it looked better than any of the previous Smith flicks. It bombed becuase half of his audience are, frankly, the kind of people who think Jay is the funniest human on the planet; people, for whatever reason, hate Ben Affleck; and becuase of the whole "Bennifer" thing.
Mole Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Jersey Girl was surprisingly good. I thought it was going to be a romantic comedy, but was more about Affleck and his daughter, which hasn't been over done like the romantic comedy thing.
cabbageboy Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Jersey Girl wasn't a horrible film, but it wasn't really GOOD either. It was the exact sort of film that Smith's fanbase doesn't want to see from him. Hell, it's the sort of film he himself would have ridiculed 10 years ago. It's pretty much the definition of a ** type movie.
Black Lushus Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 It's pretty much the definition of a ** type movie. funny enough, on Cox's cable guide, they gave it 2 stars!
luke-o Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Point of the movie = Jersey Girl was a tremendous bomb and Smith needed to make a movie someone might actually want to see. Let's not kid ourselves here. wrong. smith is doing this bacuse after he made clerks x dvd, he feel in love with the characters all over again and wanted to see them brought to life. bearing in mind, he had planned to do clerks 2 after he did dogma, so we cant say that jersey girl was a bomb. On the subject of Jersey Girl, i didnt think it was too bad. It seemed to be quiet a complete movie, but the whole bennifer thing fucked it all up.
