On a personal note, I have had at least one good friend in Iraq since 2003...in about a month the last friend will be back home (hopefully) for good. After a brief reprieve from worrying it will get tough next year when my younger brother ships out to the desert. Too often it is forgotten that war has a 100% victim rate in that even our soldiers who are thankfully left physically unharmed will carry emotional scars of what they saw and whatthey had to do for as long as they live. Sad as it is to comprehend, it is necessary to think about this stuff when dealing with the war in Iraq...it provides a far different, and more painfully realistic, perspective than to simply wrap yourself in a flag and insult the supposed lack of patriotism of those Americans who disagree with this war.

 

Its really easy for someone to disregard people as hippies who blindly wish for peace...it is just as retarded to blindly support whatever decisions a chosen political administration makes and label it 'patriotism'.
