benn 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2006 Totally missed this. I was watching "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves". Was the main event any good? It was decent. Apparently Henry is actually learning how to sell. The ending wasn't great though.
randomguy 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2006 The main event was pretty decent. By the way the clothesline Lashely did on Booker where Booker appeared to do a complete 360 flip in the air was pretty amazing. There was more wrestling on this SD than the last month of Raw. Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Report post Posted June 24, 2006 The Booker/Lashley feud is good, but I'm sick of seeing them actually wrestle. Hopefully they don't have another match at The Great American Bash, after next week's Steel Cage match. I was rooting for Henry to beat Rey, too.

Hopefully they don't have another match at The Great American Bash, after next week's Steel Cage match. You'd rather Booker started his own Kiss My Ass Club or something? As long as they throw in some variation in the matches, I'm all for this feud lasting a while longer. Every minute Lashley gets in the ring with veterans like Booker, Finlay and Regal will help him develop into a real main eventer in the near future.
Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Report post Posted June 24, 2006 You'd rather Booker started his own Kiss My Ass Club or something? Well of course, because that's totally what I said or implied. How about some tag team main events (goods ones, as opposed to the DX/Spirit Squad tag matches on Raw), like Lashley & Rey/Finlay & Regal, or an against the odds match of Lashley & Rey/Booker, Finlay & Regal. When Batista returns, they can do a fun six-man tag, with Batista, Lashley, & Rey against The King's Court. I would really like a former World champ "big man" (Batista)/young rookie "big man" (Lashley) partnership/tag team for a while, leading to a match between the two at Survivor Series or WM 23. It could make for some interesting combinations of matches.

Sorry, I thought you meant that you were sick of seing them wrestling and wanted the feud to continue but be more dramatic and have more outside of the ring crap like the endless Vince/SS vs Michaels saga. Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2006 JBL is like a Bobby Heenan who could fi9ght...only not as funny. So that would make him not much like Bobby Heenan? That's like Ken Kennedy is like Lillian except he's a wrestler. . . and he doesn't have boobs

I'd prefer Kennedy over Henry as well, but Henry has a program happening with Rey at the moment and looks like he'll also be the first guy that Batista goes after. I said Scott just because we don't know when to expect Benoit back. Henry/Scott is the more obvious choice right now, but Kennedy/Benoit would be better. Wrestlefreak 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2006 A solid Smackdown. Rey/Henry was good, Booker/Lashley was even better. The tag match was also good. Mr Kennedy was great,(it's a good sign when you insult the crowd and they still cheer you) and the crowd was pumped. JBL was good on commentry. Raw is giving us crap, while Smackdown is giving us great wrestling.

Hopefully they don't have another match at The Great American Bash, after next week's Steel Cage match. I agreed, but King Booker is the best gimmick/run hes had in 3 years. although they dont explain why Regal and Finlay are his friends (why would Regal like Booker anyhow?) Smackdown was great this week (I just saw it tonight, it was preemoted by the yankees game in NJ/NY) I almost thought Henry was going over there (to set up a Tista/Henry title program) Kennedy keeps changing his finishers every week, but I guess the "Kenton" is his new one. what happened to the samoan drop roll form the top? he did a standard version this week. JBL is funny on commentary (explaining how he was the leader of the APA and Farrooq always listend to him, had me lol) but has almost no chemistry with Cole, unlike Tazz. I still dont know why Tazz was needed for ECW (other than to authenticate it) Styles is better off calling the matches solo anyhow.
benn 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 I think they're just going for the UK connection with Regal and Finlay as far as King Booker goes. People associate England and the UK with a monarchy so they just slapped them together. It's dumb but anything that gets Regal and Finlay teaming together is fine by me. Just John 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 It's dumb but anything that gets Regal and Finlay teaming together is fine by me. I agree with this. It also has to be the most credibility Regal's had since 02. Booker and Regal deserve pushes for the shit they've gone through the last couple of years. Their previous programs were jobbing to the Boogeyman and wearing a dress (respectively) for god sake. On a side note, who at the beginning of the year would've thought Fit freakin' Finlay would be getting one of the best pushes in the company?

I guess because of the power of formign an alliance with him anyhow King Booker is kinda entertaining, but sharmell is staring to get on my nerves. plus I hate his king music. I think the fact that Regal is an englishman is why he's going along with Booker as the King. He's supposed to recognise a monarch as the true leader among the guys on the roster rather than one of the champions. I think it's dumb too but Booker/Regal/Finlay are such a good stable that I don't really mind. And I miss Booker's Harlem Heat music too. They should have him use it again but stick a clip of Sharmell or someone saying All Hail King Booker at the start or something like that.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 The weird thing about Kennedy is I was at a house show last week (the report is probably on the 2nd page still) and when he came out, he got a huge pop. Probably the 3rd or 4th biggest pop of the night behind only Batista and Lashley. And the crowd was giving him a good sized pop until he got on the mic and started insulting the audience. Then a couple of minutes later, the entire building was seething wanting to see Kennedy get his and shouting "Kill 'em Tatanka!". I've never seen an audience reaction quite like that. Either Kennedy is an incredible heel or the marks were complete fools. I think one day, hopefully later rather than sooner, Kennedy will be a superover smartass babyface but I'd like to see him pushed as a heel for a while before that.
