Man Who Sold The World 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2006 About a week ago I decided it was time for a new car. Never had my credit checked or anything, so I went to Enterprise Car Sales (same as the Rental place only they sell cars, yeah) and had my eye on a Lancer. But I ended up with an '05 Grand Am with 26,000 miles on it, and the full warranty for no money down and 378.02 a month for 60 months. Not bad eh? Especially since I didn't have much in the way of credit and I even mentioned that: "No money down, 0 apr, are you sure?" and they insisted, gave me the keys and I was on my merry way. Anyways, about midway through this week I get a call from enterprise and they say they ran my credit through a finance company and they're saying in order to keep the car I need $3300 down. What? Excuse me? I have this contract in my hand stating how much I had to put down and $3300 it wasn't! For that amount of money I can put down and get a fucking Mercedes Benz n shit! I was pissed off, still am and a little stressed. Well, I still haven't went down to the dealership, but what do you think I should do? I can't go back to my old funky car (a 1995 Ford Escort for gawd sakes), and my credit isn't good enough to get a good car with no money down. I need help, cause I need a new car, it's hot out here for a pimp and the Escort's air con. don't work
Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2006 It's a well known scam. They DEFINITELY run your credit when you take it at first. Hold on, I'll find an article about it on Edmunds.com I saw a few months back.

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2006 After reading the headline, I thought this was a scam black car salesmen pulled. Maybe this is God's way of telling you not to get this car. Oh, and from 1992-2006 I owned two cars. An '83 Pulsar and an '88 Corsica. And NEITHER had A/C. The Corsica is still around, but it is now the backup vehicle. geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2006 You were getting screwed to begin with, you were going to pay 24,000 for a Grand Am with 26,000 miles on it. This fall I'm getting the new Pontiac Solstice GXP for about 26,000, and that blows away a grand am.

AC is a must in So Cal. You'll die if you don't have it. Rolling down the windows with this smog is hell.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2006 Im looking at going up to a place in DE tomorrow to look at a new 2006 Chevy Cobalt for $159/month (although I dont know how long it is). My current car is worth zilch in its condition (1994 Corsica with 106,998.5 miles) but I have the money for a downpayment. I did get a free credit report and my credit score # was in the high 600's which is supposedly in the lower fair range so I hope I can get the $159/month deal. My Corsica has AC but its not cold and I've tried to get it fixed and it wont stay cold so theres something wrong with it. Im content with the windows down, although up until about a month ago when I got my stepfather to fix it, my two front windows which are powered wouldnt go up or down, although I was lucky it was the winter. My two back windows only go down half way but thats a feature. Id be dying if I didnt get my windows fixed right now with it being 90 and about 70% humidity every day. Oh, and if these jews ever tried that shit with me, I'd take the car back to them and say "thanks for the test drive." And why would you buy a car from a rental agency -- haven't we learned anything from the Blue Collar Tour?
Mik 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 About a year ago I bought a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe from a Hyundai dealership. They tried to pull the same shit on me. Basically I went ballistic and they gave me the deal they promised, except from a different lender. Don't be afraid to go nuts. Really, they're just fishing. "Buying a used rental car is like going to a house of ill repute for a wife. Anything that has been driven that many times, by that many people, you really don't want to put your key in it." Man Who Sold The World 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 All great points I will take into consideration. And also, if you guys had a choice between an '04 Stratus and an '04 Sebring LX, your choice would be?
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 Whatever is the better value in terms of maintenance costs. I'm not the person to be asking about cars.
