The Mandarin Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 I just felt like discussing PWG without having to start a thread with a real direction. What matches are you digging? Do you think the Dynasty angle is gonna work? Do you think the commentary's improved in recent years? Are the drugs ruining Topgun's workrate? Scorpio Sky = sexy? Discuss. My quick effort: - Chris Bosh is hilarious. - Jack Evans vs. Claudio Castagnoli at BOLA? Awesome. - The Iron Man match on UYI 4 was totally rocking, even with Joey Ryan being knocked silly.
DangerousDamon Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 Allstar Weekend 2 Music Video (gotta love the song) ASW 1 Music Video The Battle of Los Angeles Music Video Davey Richards murdering people I'm Chris Bosh! And I'm Photogenic!
King Cucaracha Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 Scorpio Sky could be one of the huge names on the indie circuit within the next couple of years. Not just on talent, but god-damn that guy is entertaining. I like Koslov, he's got a lot of potential. Infact, virtually the only guy on the regular PWG roster I could do without is Joey Ryan. I just don't see what the big deal is. I can't remember seeing him in a really memorable match, the booking of the title run sucked, the moustache thing was cute but Josh Abercrombie does that and he's more entertaining in the ring...I don't know, maybe it's just me. I'm sure Ryan's a 'good wrestler', he just doesn't do anything for me.
DangerousDamon Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 How many titles does PWG have? Just the World and Tag Titles?
The Mandarin Posted July 6, 2006 Author Report Posted July 6, 2006 Yeah. Speaking of which, what are the best World and Tag title matches? Anybody?
DangerousDamon Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Davey Richards and Super Dragon vs Generation Next is the best tag title defense of Davey and Dragon's reign from what I hear.
PsychoDriver Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Yeah. Speaking of which, what are the best World and Tag title matches? Anybody? Off the top of my head... World Title 1. Super Dragon Vs. Samoa Joe - All Nude Revue 2. Frankie Kazarian Vs. Adam Pearce - Cage Match - Reason For The Season 3. Kevin Steen Vs. Chris Bosh - All Star Weekend 2: Night Two 4. Frankie Kazarian Vs. AJ Styles Vs. Christopher Daniels - ARE YOU ADEQUATELY PREPARED TO ROCK?! 5. Frankie Kazarian Vs. Super Dragon - Free Admission (Just Kidding) Joey Ryan's reign has had some pretty fun matches. But I'm not sure where I'd rank them... Tag Title: 1. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Roderick Strong/Jack Evans - Hollywood Globetrotters 2. Arrogance Vs. Aerial Express - Masks Vs. Titles 2 Year Anny 3. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Arrogance - England 4. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Two Skinny Black Guys - After School Special 5. Arrogance Vs. Two Skinny Black Guys - Zombies Shouldn't Run 6. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Cape Fear - Cruisin' For a Brusin 7. Arrogance Vs. Super Dragon/B-Boy - Use Your Illusion 3 8. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Arrogance - Enchantment Under The Sea 9. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Cape Fear - Germany 10. Arrogance Vs. B-Boy/Human Tornado - Fear of a Black Planet Probably leaving something out.... most everything from SD/Davey's run would be up there too.
King Cucaracha Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 I'd put Arrogance v. 2 Skinny Black Guys from Zombies Shouldn't Run a little higher on that list, personally. That whole show is great, but that's one of the stand-outs. Probably higher than the main event in England. Any ideas of the best shows to get? I've got a bunch or so (Zombies Shouldn't Run, All Nude Revue, European Vacation 1 & 2, Card Subject To Change 2, All Star Weekend 2 Night 1) and Battle For Los Angeles on the way. What ones should I really be trying to get?

What ones should I really be trying to get? I could agree with that match being higher. List wasn't really in a perfect order. Good shows to get: All Star Weekend 1: Night 1 The 2nd Annual PWG Bicentennial Birthday Extravaganza - Night One Astonishing X-Mas Cruisin' For A Bruisin'! And pretty much all the currently unreleased shows are really worth getting. Especially: Hollywood Globetrotters (PWG MOTY so far: SD/Davey Vs. Strong/Evans, Sabin Vs. Shelley, Arrogance Vs. Cape Fear, Kazarian Vs. B-Boy) Beyond The Thunderdome (SD/Davey Vs. AJ/Daniels, a GREAT Arrogance Vs. Cape Fear match, Joey Vs. Sabin, Steen Vs. B-Boy, Sky Vs. Tornado, a really different TJ Perkins Vs. Mr. Excitement match. All good stuff) All Star Weekend 3: Night 2 (Amazing back to back to back series of matches with Kazarian vs. B-Boy Vs. Steen Vs. Sabin, Strong Vs. Sydal, and Necro Butcher's surprise debut Vs. Joey Ryan) Enchantment Under The Sea (one of my favorite PWG shows to date, top to bottom excellent show) Get those all when they are released (Beyond The Thunderdome and Hollywood Globetrotters are currently available for pre-order)
The Mandarin Posted September 24, 2006 Author Report Posted September 24, 2006 I was fast forwarding through the beginning of ECW ONS 2 on WWE 24/7 when I saw a half second glimpse of a PWG shirt. I thought, hey, that's cool and rewound. It turned out to be Kevin Steen (or Kevin Steen's twin brother) in the shirt, mildly cheering for Paul Heyman. If you want to see it, it's right at the beginning of Heyman's speech when everyone is chanting "Paul E". He's in a balcony; the camera zooms out really quickly but you can still recognize him. Sorry about all the acronyms. ------ When the hell is Threemendous going to be shipped? I did the five-DVD order and I've waited over a month.

I saw that, it's Steen. I heard it mentioned somewhere, but where exactly I can't remember. Might have been a CZW promo. When the hell is Threemendous going to be shipped? I did the five-DVD order and I've waited over a month. Ditto.
PsychoDriver Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 See if I can answer any of these... - That was indeed, Steen at ONS. - Threemendous should be out any time now. It was supposed to out in early September but apparently there was some problems with the duplicator. I'd say it'll be out in the next week or 2, along with BOLA. - Oct 7th show: Location is unknown right now but PWG is supposed to announce the Oct. 7th details very shortly Also, congrats to Kevin Steen who will be spending the next two months in Dragon Gate. He'll miss the next 4 PWG shows, but I'm sure he'll return even better than ever.
Star Ocean 3 Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Kaz Hayashi will be at All Star Weekend 5 in April, wrestling Alex Shelley, then PAC.
PsychoDriver Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Really happy to see the KAZ-Shelley match, because Kaz was a major influence on Shelley. Here's a short clip from an interview with @LX: "I'd like to go to All-Japan too, because the wrestler in Japan I'd most want to wrestle is far and away Kaz Hayashi. He's one of the guys I try to model my style after and I think he's just awesome."
Star Ocean 3 Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 TNA guys will no longer be appearing at any PWG shows because of a DVD contract. That means no Sabin, Shelley, Kazarian..terrible news.
Obi Chris Kenobi Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 How is Pac doing over in PWG/States in general? He's from the town I'm from in the UK, seen him a few indie shows and think its mint he's starting to make a name for himself in the US. His CHIKARA debut was amazing.
Cuban Linx Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Losing Kazarian isn't a huge loss at this stage but losing the MCMG is a big one, especially since they were pretty much a sure bet to win the upcoming DDT4 tag tournament.
Corkscrew_Senton Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Someone correct me if I'm wrong. My understanding was TNA didn't want PWG going through third party sellers like Highspots as opposed to out-and-out banning TNA talent from working the fed, and it was PWG's decision to pull those guys.

Yes, that is what they said happened. It was a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation that TNA put them in. Though I will miss seeing all the TNA talent actually get to wrestle, I agree with PWG's decision. It sucks, but PWG will live.
