It seems like a lot of people don't believe that the US government ever does any coverups of anything. So in this thread I hope to spark some talk about coverups that people actually believe in. Feel free to talk about coverups other people have done as well.

 

Since it's related you can also talk about "conspiracy" theories and which ones you think are the most believable and which are the most fake.

 

 

And while we're all it why not talk about myths or legends?

 

Please don't turn this into a non serious thread people. Let's get some serious talk going here. People want me to be less "foolish" around these parts (though I think a good bit don't want me to) and that's what I'm going to try to do.

There's really no opionion to be had on Watergate. The facts of that came out as they were. It was no secret that Nixon was a very paranoid person, given his list of enemies that would get audited every year.

bigolsmitty, OK, I guess you could say most of those were coverups. I don't know though...some of those I would say fall into the category of "CIA or military operations", rather than coverups. I mean, yeah, if the government decides they need to off some dictator, of course they're not going to announce it on the news, but eventually, those types of operations either become declassified or simply become public knowledge.

 

As for Watergate...well, they couldn't even coverup a simple break in. That kind of disproves that the government assassinated JFK or faked the moon landing, doesn't it?

So wildpegasus and Zorin Industries were out fishing on the lake in Zorin's kayak. It was late October, and starting to get a little chilly. Zorin says to wildpegasus, "man, it's cold out here," wildpegasus goes "oh yeah, you betcha. Let's put our coats on." So they put their coats on, but then a stiff breeze comes in from the north and it gets cooler still. Zorin goes "man, it's cold! We shouldn't have gone out in the kayak today!" and wildpegasus goes "you're tellin' me! We better put our scarves on." So Zorin and wildpegasus put on their scarves, but not before the breeze gets even colder than it was already. At this point, it's getting pretty ridiculous that they're even out there trying to fish. So wildpegasus says "that's it, Zorin. I think we'd better get our kayak back to the pier." But Zorin, he still wants to fish, and he thinks if he just stays out a little longer, he's gonna catch a big northern pike. He knows it's cold, so he says "Okay, wildpegasus, I have an idea." He takes off his scarf, places it down on the floor of the kayak, or whatever you'd call it, whips out a lighter, and sets the scarf on fire. "There," Zorin says, "now it's like a little campfire." However, the fire spreads from the scarf to the wooden kayak itself, the boat bursts into flames, and Zorin and wildpegasus perish. This just goes to show you that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.

This reminds me of the days when I was out in the woods working during the winter time. With the cold breeze it was often below -20 so often fires were made to keep warm. A bunch of good stories here but I'll concentrate on the one that this story reminds me of. Often we'd put gasoline, oil and fir tree limbs (these create a TONNE of smoke so beware of that too) to get the fires going. Now this is VERY dangerous because the fires shoot up IMMEDIATLY when you do this. Yeah, so one time when we did this it started to get away from us and it gave us a scare we'd never forget. Luckily, because it was just so, so cold out the fire didn't spread. So a similar story to yours but a happier ending.

 

Now that we got storytelling out of the way we can back on topic.

 

What do people think of the biggest debate of them all? Do aliens exist in the universe somewhere? Have they ever visited the earth during its "long" lifespan? Do people on Earth know for a fact that aliens have landed here? Have there been coverups? Are we studying alien technology? What exactly is going on in the heavily guarded US place (can't think of the name right now. sorry) where absolutely no information is leaked?

I think the American government released an alien to live among us with the sole purpose of annoying the general populace. It's codename, I believe, was Operation wildpegasus.
