buffybeast 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 I recently discovered www.dvdavenue.tv. This company produces DVD's of past television shows. They sale dvd's of tv shows not yet released by the production and/or networks. Is this legal? They offer the complete JAG and Thirtysomething tv shows on DVD, even though neither show has been released on DVD. Should I purchase from them?

buffybeast 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 In all honesty, I'm pretty sure their products are illegal. But how could they be in business and sell bootlegged products? It's not like the crackhead on the corner selling pirated movies.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 But how could they be in business and sell bootlegged products? They probably haven't been noticed by anyone who would have a problem with it. Sounds kinda shady. You'd PROBABLY be OK, but I'd still be hesitant about ordering anything. GUYANA CORPORATION LTD 7 Petworth Road, Haslemere Surrey, England GU27 2JB They're also based in England, which maybe helps them skirt legal issues? I dunno. Downhome 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 If you want shows that aren't on DVD yet, I'm sure you can find just about anything you want SOMEWHERE online. If you don't have DSL or whatever, then I'm sure you have a friend somewhere, online or off, that could download it and burn it for you. There's no point in paying some twat so much money for this kind of stuff. I downloaded the entire series of The Wonder Years. Besides, half the time you buy boots like this much of it doesn't even work. I can't even count the number of times I've heard about people being sucked into buying from sites like this, only for you to get screwed over, intentionally or not. If it doesn't work, what are you going to do? Complain to someone that the illegal bootlegs that you bought didn't work?
buffybeast 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Fair enough. I'll just try to download the show. Where did you find the Wonder Years? I want LA Law and Thirtysomething.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Fair enough. I'll just try to download the show. Where did you find the Wonder Years? I want LA Law and Thirtysomething. Last I checked Buffy the first episode of the series is on youtube. Yeah, I wouldn't mind knowing where to download the Wonder Years either.
Guest NYankees Report post Posted July 14, 2006 I was reading on IMDB that Wonder Years on DVD is likely never going to happen and definately soon anyways. Just to get the rights to all of the old songs is going to be crazy. That show wouldn't be the same without the music and the nostalga.
Dandy 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Kinda on topic...anyone know where I can download episodes of "Twin Peaks?" I have heard so much about that show, and it will never be released in full on DVD, I have heard. Full eps are not on youtube.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Im surprised that they dont release shows on DVD with music rights issues and give em the Vince McMahon treatment and just insert generic music.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2006 I downloaded The Wonder Years using a torrent. Go to: http://www.torrentspy.com And just search for Wonder Years. That show wouldn't be the same without the music and the nostalga. And if anyone doesn't believe it, then watch this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7aq6EFq_38 If you ask me, I'm either going to just stick with my downloaded episodes, or I'll go in for the R2 DVD releases. As you may or may not know, the R2 releases of Quantum Leap contains all of the original music while the R1 releases are butchered. I think this is because the copyright law over this in the UK is quite different, in that home video/DVD releases of shows are allowed to keep all original music without huge additional payments needed to clear it. If any of you need information on how to go region-free, just let me know. It's quite simple and many of you may already have a DVD player that plays DVDs from other regions. Most just require a special "secret" remote code that you simply type in. I personally recommend the Phillips DVP642 which you can get for $50-$60 at WalMart, etc...
