-Well, it seems logical, but after the remake of "Dawn of The Dead", it's follow up/sequal will be a remake of "Day of the Dead". It seems like James Gunn Will have nothing to do with this one, and it will be directed by Steve ("Friday the 13th part 2", "Lake Placcid") will direct. The movie will star Ving Rhames (who won't be reprising his role in the "Dawn" remake) as Captain Rhodes, Mena Suvari as Sarah, and (ugh) Nick Cannon.

-A while back, I mentioned that a movie version of Jack Ketchum's acclaimed (and excellent) novel "The Girl Next Door" was underway. Well, it seems like casting has begun. Anyways, Mae ("Arrested Developement","Thief","Avatar: The Last Airbender") Whitman will play the tortured and abused title character, while Blanche ("Sixteen Candles") will play the abusive Aunt Ruth, and Daniel Manche will play the boy who befriends the girl, and witnesses her torture.

-After "Hostel 2", Eli Roth will be directing an adaptation of Stephen King's novel "Cell". The book deals with a zombie like outbreak caused by cell phones. On a lesser note, I don't have a cell phone.

-The website for the upcoming animated Hellboy movie is up. Ron Perlman and Selma Blair will reprise their roles. It should debut on Cartoon Network sometime this year.

-In Masters of Horror news, Jeffrey Combs has been comfirmed to play Poe in Stuart Gordon's episode, which is an adaptation of "The Black Cat". Also, Gordon's new movie "Edmand", which is an adaptation of David Mamet's play, is in limited release right now, and stars William H. Macy, Julia Stiles, Denise Richards, Bai Ling, and Mena Suvari. His next directorial efforts will include "House of Re-Animator" and an upcoming movie for the new version of Amicus studios.

-Ti West's directorial debut "The Roost" (which I have mentioned before) will come to DVD on October 3rd. Also, "Slither" comes to DVD on October 24th.

-The 3-D remake of "Night of The Living Dead" wwill open in 1,500 theatres on November 10th. Unfortunately, Romero has nothing to do with it.

-Finally, it seems like Jessica Alba will star in an remake of the Chinese horror movie "The Eye". Lions Gate will be releasing it, and it will be directed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud, who have recently gotten festival attention and praise for their movie "ILS"

Thanks for reminding me what I was supposed to ask George about in a couple of weeks. I nearly forgot about that movie.

And Mena Survari and Nick Cannon? That's a big pass. Only movie I've been able to stand Nick Cannon in is Drumline.

Steve Miner, director of such great films as "Halloween H20", and "Big Bully".

Although early in his career he directed "House", "Friday the 13th II and III", "Warlock", and "SOUL MAN".

How can you go wrong with the director of SOUL MAN??

Why the hell are they remaking The Eye? The original is on all the time on Cable, hell so is the sequel, and Jessica Alba of all people.....ugh.

RE: The Eye. It's still fashionable to remake Asian horror flicks?

Asia is pretty much leading the horror genre these days. And the remakes so far ("Ring", "The Grudge") have made money, so Hollywood will keep remaking them.

Awesome--I've missed seeing Jeffrey in movies, and great to see they're finally going to be moving forward with House of Re-Animator.

That's "Edmond" by the way. It's not horror, though.

Why does Mena Suvari's name keep cropping up here..?

IIRC, I read that the Day of the Dead remake is unrelated to the Dawn of the Dead remake and that Gunn is pinning a Dawn of the Dead II.

Also, can't wait for Eli Roth's coming movies. I think Hostel is the Exorcist/ Texas Chainsaw Massacre of our generation. The story about the guy having a heart attack while viewing it, the fact that when I went to go see it opening night the reaction in the theatre was unlike anything I have ever seen. It was totally quiet when it ended as opposed to the usual chatter. There where even people vomiting while leaving the theatre. It's almost a shame Quentin Tarantino was all over it, as it was better than anything Tarantino has ever done. Hostel II can not possibley live up to Hostel, it will be like TCM 2 or the Exorcist 2. But I'm sure Cell will be awesome. I'd really like to see him return to Cabin Fever as well.

For those of you interested in "THE DESCENT", I can tell you one thing. If you are expecting a non-stop horror thrill ride, you are in for quite the shock.

Now if you are a big fan of rock climbing films that tosses in creatures with a piss poor ending, then it's a great film. If you can accept the first part of the film for what it is (lots and lots of cave climbing), then you'll be fine. Plus I'd imagine they have probably edited it down for America audiences and I'm hearing they remove the crap ending.

Woah, woah, woah. I like Hostel and all, really great flick. But you're giving it way too much credit with that statement.

-Day of the Dead is my favorite installment in the Dead series. I am so upset about this remake. The cast looks horrible. Anyone going to see this film, no matter how many times people call him Rhodes, people will always think of Ving as the same character as Dawn of the Dead. Horrible casting.

In regards to Dawn II, that I believe is in talks right now.

-Don't know much about this, but I will give it a chance.

-Big fan of Eli Roth. Loved Cabin Fever, Hostel and 2001 Maniacs (which he produced), can't wait for Hostel 2. Cell should be really intereesting.

-Really looking forward to Hellboy 2.

-MoH season 2 should be good. Some returning directors, some new ones. Should be good as long as Showtime stops removing episodes, see Miike's episode.

-Can't wait to pick up Slither. I heard very good things about this. Plus I am a huge James Gunn fan since Tromeo and Julliet.

-Night of the Living Dead 3-D, only reason to see it...Sid Haig.

-Hate American remakes of Japanese films, hate Jessica Alba (not impressed at all with anything she has ever done, was HORRIBLE as host of the MTV Movie Awards), so I will skip this piece of shit. Especially since it is being produced by Tom Cruise, someone else I can't stand.

Update on Feast: It will get an unrated DVD treatment on October 17th after it's brief midnight run. Because the Weinsteins are clueless when it comes to marketing horror movies.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is with "The Eye". Sure, it's got some good moments, but it also has a dreadfully tacked on romatic sublot and sentimentality, as well as a weak ending.
