snuffbox 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 Can Jesse Ventura's voice be used for any of the matches he called? He was edited from all the WWF ppv stuff on the Dusty Rhodes set...but I remember the Steel Cage dvd had him/Vince in the highlights for the main feature. That match really needs Jesse for his debate with McMahon.

ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 No Benoit/Triple H/HBK match. Or Eddie vs Brock. The second one was a bad exclusion. The first was for the World Title, NOT the WWE title.
spman 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 This set is pretty lame. What WOULD be totally badass though would be if they did like a 5 disc set where they put EVERY Title Change on it. The title hasn't changed THAT many times over the years that it would be totally infeasible to do.
JMFabiano524 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 Why in the hell is Cena included with icons like Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock, and the rest of the greats?? They want to represent all eras and that would include John Cena, whom they want to be presented as Hogan/Rock level star. The problem was, they didn't have much to choose from and selecting Cena/Christian/Jericho is really awkward. Cena/JBL from JD05 would have served better in putting Cena over. If he's the one who did the job in the match, the second name in that triple threat match may be the answer to why it's being included. (DIE TNA STAR DIE!) JMFabiano524 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 Why does the WWE have to be so cheap to get rid of Jesse's commentary? I mean its the man's "intellectual property" so pay him his money nevermind the fact that his interactions with Monsoon, McMahon, and Schiavone have been some of the funniest stuff in WWE/WCW history. It's like this company just does little things to piss on the fans, especially die hard fans who will probably have the highest interest in this set especially if they were fans for the disk one matches. One other thing, why is Backlund-Sheik not on the list? I've never seen it and can't attest to its quality but I figured they'd use it as a way to transition into the Hogan title win. Backlund/Sheik is on the '80s DVD, if that's any consolation. Weird how some of the choices people wanted to see are on other collections, as we've been bitching about for matches that are on there. The Jesse thing I still don't totally get...I recall it being said that his WCW commentary was off-limits, but his WWF stuff was OK. That perhaps Jesse and WWE came to an agreement? Yet they only use his commentary and all when they "need" it, it seems (the HoF 2004 DVD, and the WM Anthology). When it's "expendable," the Jesse Embargo is in full effect. But when it comes to keeping that authentic classic feeling, it should NEVER be expendable. And while we all love giving WWE the riot acts, problems like these are not exclusive to them, of course. Things like image and music clearance plague the DVD industry as a whole, and have in fact kept many TV shows and the like from even being released in the first place! JMFabiano524 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 Randy Savage was a 2 time Champ back in the day when Hogan hardly ever lost & all he gets is 1 match?!!!! Sure am glad Cena is on there (note heavy SARCASM). If Savage omissions still surprise anyone, they really need to get with the program. Does anyone know for sure what the deal is? (No I won't mention That Urban Legend...)

Randy Savage didn't become a 2-time WWF Champion until WrestleMania 8, the event where Hulk Hogan wrestled his "last match" against Sid Justice.

(No I won't mention That Urban Legend...) I'll try another theory besides "that urban legend" : Since Hogan and Savage hate each other, maybe Hogan got in Vince's ear and convinced him to "erase" Savage from history. Told him something like doing business with Savage would mean an end to their business relation. Since there's more money to be made with Hogan, Vince decided to go with it and agreed to never mention Savage again. I'm not sure, but I think Savage isn't even on the "Greatest stars of the 80's DVD".

spman 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 Yeah but Savage does the job in that match, so it doesn't count. Meltzer reported not too long ago that there may be more truth to the Stephanie Mcmahon legend then you'd think.

Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 Meltzer reported not too long ago that there may be more truth to the Stephanie Mcmahon legend then you'd think. What he said was that he didn't know either way. I find it unlikely that Savage did anything to Stephanie, and I think it more likely that the truth is what Meltzer said when he was asked about Savage not being in WWE and that they think he's even nuttier than Warrior. BUTT 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 Who ever knows with Vince? Maybe he's still mad about Savage wearing orange sweatpants to a house show in '88 or something. Don't think he needs a real reason to mad about something. He doesn't think like other humans.
