naiwf 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 Somebody on the Braves needs to go down hard for Hudson hitting Delgado on the knee and taking him out of the game.

vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 The Houston Astros sent down my third favorite starting pitcher, Taylor Buchholz, and recalled Chris Sampson, who you might remember went 7 innings of 1 hit shutout ball against the Cubs. Sampson is 11-2 with a 2.62 ERA at Round Rock. He seems to a pitcher very similar to Brandon Backe, but with better control. I still think Buchholz will be a future #1 or #2 starter with the Astros, but he's been hot/cold and needs to work on some things.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 Does anyone in the history of MLB have a weaker outfield arm than Johnny Damon? Dude just "fired" a two hopper to Posada from a few paces behind the infield, the first hop hitting roughly near the back edge of the pitcher's mound. Is it really possible that there are little leaguers out there with better arms than the CF for the New York Yankees?
KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 When are people going to learn that it's like a hundred feet from left field to home plate in Fenway Park? It's more the fact that Manny plays it VERY shallow and has a very quick release on his throws, but teams somehow think he's still not very good defensively and run on him anyway. And Jerry Remy needs to do more national games. Take away his borderline annoying schilling for his "RemDawg" website on NESN and he's one of the best color men in baseball. KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 Hey, ARod is up with the bases loaded. Wonder what'll happen? Oh yeah, that. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
naiwf 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 So Ortiz gets the GW hit, A-Rod fails in the clutch and the sky is still blue. The sad thing is if the Yanks had been up 12-5 at the time, he'd probably have hit a mammoth GS to deep right center.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 It's 17-5 now, so you know what that means? Time for ARod to hit a couple of solo homers and get booed as he rounds the bases.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2006 Ok. How many times are the Yankees going to bring out this fat bastard to sing "God Bless America?" Every time they do that at a game I feel like I'm in church.

Guest Report post Posted July 29, 2006 When a team is struggling, make sure it happens before you play the Nationals, Reds and Marlins. The Reds get owned by the Dodgers in Cincy.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted July 29, 2006 Can't be worse than Ryan Dempster, whom I am convinced must superstitiously walk the bases loaded for good luck. There's no other explanation, other than "he isn't good," of course. Again.

devo 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2006 This probably should have been posted right after he got on base for the fifth time today, but I've gotta say how pleased I've been with Lo Duca's offensive performance since the All-Star break. Traditionally, he's been one of the weakest second-half hitters in the game, but so far, his numbers since the All-Star break have actually been better than the ones he compiled before it (.364/.414/.477 and .302/.343/.409, respectively). Of course, he's hot right now and I still expect his performance to decline significantly as the second half of the season wears on, but regardless, it's been nice to see him hitting when a violent regression was expected. With liberal rest, I don't think a line of .300/.340/.400 is out of the question, which is much better than I expected from him at the beginning of the year. vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2006 After losing to the Reds earlier this season to drop his lifetime record against them to 15-1, Roy Oswalt's trying to start an undefeated streak against the D'Backs. With tonite's win, he's 5-0 against them lifetime. In the 5 starts, he's gone 38 innings, struck out 36, walked 6, given up 4 runs, and given up zero hits with runners in scoring position. And hey! Lidge looked decently sharp in picking up his 23rd save. I read something by Buster Olney that now the Astros are "close" to sending Brad Lidge to the Rangers for a big bat, but off the top of my head, I can't think of a big bat the Rangers would be willing to give up that would fit the needs positionally for the Astros. C'est la vie.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2006 I don't understand why everyone makes such a big deal out of chasing the division versus chasing the wild card. The goal is to win as many games as possible. After that, let the chips fall as they may.

Buster Olney has zero credibility in my eyes. At the deadline last year, I believe he said that Manny to the Mets was a done deal on ESPN Radio. Oh, and players say things that they don't always believe to be true.
