snuffbox Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Smoothest flow since Biggie Smalls. Feel free to agree.
Guest DRH 502 Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Any songs to recommend?? By the way, Kool G. Rap isn't dead and B.I.G. admittedly bit his style so you should reword that...
Guest DRH 502 Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 I will be back with my review in however long it takes my 56k to download one or both of these songs... I am sure you are all not looking forward to that. But seriously though i'll come back and let you know if you are spitting hyperbole to all of the good people on the board... j/k
Guest DRH 502 Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Eh. He is alright from what i've heard but seriously I would put him on a level with say MF DOOM. Which is to say a motivated Eminem or Nas would smoke them badly but they are still way better than most of the mail it in mainstream rappers.
snuffbox Posted July 26, 2006 Author Report Posted July 26, 2006 'Eminem' and 'smooth flow' dont really go together.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 When I saw him live, he had a live band with him. Good times.
snuffbox Posted July 27, 2006 Author Report Posted July 27, 2006 Same when I saw him...very cool. He was the first up on the all-night hiphop stage at this years Bonnaroo...I thought he was better than Common and almost as good as Blackalicious (Gift of Gab is otherworldly on stage).
Guest DRH 502 Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 'Eminem' and 'smooth flow' dont really go together. Bullshit. Dude I lost alot of respect for you for this comment. Off the top of my head check out his verse on Patiently Waiting and Renegades which kills the subpar lyrics I heard on "Callin' Out"...
snuffbox Posted July 27, 2006 Author Report Posted July 27, 2006 Dude. I'm not saying Lyrics Born is a 'better' rapper or a better lyricist than Eminem...I'm saying he's got the smoothest flow I've heard in some time. Eminem was never particulary smooth (even on the tracks you mentioned)...he was passionately angry and had mad desire to just be heard, goddamn the consequences of his words. Lyrics Born is different...a rapper who's words run out like melted butter dripping onto the fresh popcorn that are his beats. Dude.
snuffbox Posted July 27, 2006 Author Report Posted July 27, 2006 Heres a couple links for more Eminem-esque rap that Im really diggin these days... http://www.myspace.com/simsisabusiness http://www.myspace.com/maclethal Good people.
Guest DRH 502 Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Three days later... I've warmed up to him a bit. I definately see where you were going by saying he has such a smooth flow. But still, Em's flow on Patiently Waiting isn't smooth??? Anyway this dude's word-play is fucking top-notch...
Lt. Al Giardello Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Any songs to recommend?? By the way, Kool G. Rap isn't dead and B.I.G. admittedly bit his style so you should reword that... BIG's flow is nothing like Kool G. Rap's. It's more like Big Daddy Kane. Big Pun and Nas molded their style after Kool G. Rap though.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 By the way Jadakiss, AZ, Rakim, Ice Cube, Jay Z, and Eminem have the best flows in the game.
Guest DRH 502 Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Fuck Rakim I don't care how much love he gets FUCK RAKIM. Everyone else you listed I agree with but Kool G. Rap should be on the list in place of Rakim.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Fuck Rakim I don't care how much love he gets FUCK RAKIM. Everyone else you listed I agree with but Kool G. Rap should be on the list in place of Rakim. Rakim has amazing flow and delivery, just listen to The Watcher 2, he murdered Jay Z flow wise. Although I like Kool G. Rap alot, he ain't fuckin wit Rakim flow wise.
Guest DRH 502 Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Eh I know man. I know. I realise that you, along with everyone who knows anything about hip-hop feels this way. I respect the opinion. I've heard the Watcher 2. The whole Paid In Full album. Fuck Rakim and Eric B. I have respect for them, I understand the innovation and the flawless technique of Rakim...all that. Still, in my eyes the Juice Crew (Kane and Rap especially) should be on that list too, and its bullshit that they don't get the props the should.
