The OAO 7/28 Smackdown! Thread

A new dynasty

July 28, 2006

A new World Champion was crowned at The Great American Bash, and that man is King Booker. WWE.com has learned that a return match for the World Heavyweight Championship will take place on SmackDown, as King Booker defends his newly won championship against Rey Mysterio.

Mysterio might still be champion today if not for the unspeakable actions of his good friend, Chavo Guerrero. On Sunday, Chavo caused Rey to lose the World Championship and ended Mysterio's dream, setting the stage for King Booker's royal coup. How will Rey respond to Chavo's actions? Why did Chavo ruin Rey's dream?

This past week, King Booker also told WWE.com that this Friday, his kingdom would witness the first-ever Opulent Coronation, a celebration for the ages. But if Mysterio can defeat King Booker to regain the World Heavyweight Championship, this Opulent Coronation could be one parade that gets rained on royally. Will the fighting Mysterio overcome the emotions of this week to relive his dream?

On Friday, Batista will go toe-to-toe with his Bash opponent, Mr. Kennedy. The Animal was indeed unleashed on Kennedy on Sunday as Batista dominated Kennedy to the point of his own disqualification. Kennedy suffered several deep cuts to the head at the hands of Batista. Have we seen the last of Batista's animalistic fury?

The Phenom prevailed in the Punjabi Prison Match at the Bash after SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long removed The Great Khali from the match and replaced him with Big Show. Has this issue been settled or was The Bash just the beginning of a new barbaric war?

On Sunday, U.S. Champion Finlay and his Little Bastard embarrassed Finlay's ally, William Regal. When these two will clash again on SmackDown this week, will Regal turn the tables on the rugged Finlay? What mischief will the wretched leprechaun cause on Friday?

And of course, the next round of competition in the 2006 Diva Search will also take place on SmackDown this week. Diva hopeful Maryse was sent home this week on RAW and the remaining contestants will participate in Diva Search Musical Chairs as they compete to become one of the next of the Sexiest Women on TV.

Why are they having rematches of half the PPV? There's no real reason for "The King's Court" to be fighting each other again. It'll probably be a good match, but still.

JBL just called Michael Cole a fruit booty. Needless to say I almost fell over.

They're calling the title the World Heavyweight Championship on-air again now that Rey isn't the champ.

Man oh man, the woes of smackdown! being what they are, you'd think Batista would be doing a little more on this show.

Decent show, not as good as the last few weeks but still miles better viewing than Raw. The absence of Lashley and Mark Henry hurt the show, and its going to get worse without Hardy and the Pitbulls. They need to do something with London and Kendrick, and they need to take the developing Batista/Kennedy and Finlay/Regal feuds to the next level because both of those matches tonight had basically the same outcome as the matches at the GAB and didn't advance the storylines at all. Sylvan and Terkay didn't impress me, I'd rather Gunner Scott be called back up from OVW. Sylvan's match with Tatanka looked particularly awkward. His finisher is cool though, I'll give him that. The main event was a great tv match. Rey and Booker both looked a lot more energised than they have recently (with the exception of those great couple of Booker/Lashley matches).

Regal/Finlay was too short, but an improvement on GAB. Booker/Rey was also an improvement on the PPV. Other than those matches, the rest of the show was lacking. However, at least they focused on matches(despite a small roster). That's what still makes Smackdown far better than Raw.

He went from feuding with, and jobbing to, Matt Hardy before Mark Henry got hurt to feuding with and "beating" a returning Batista.

I'd say he's a hell of a lot better off now.

I'm shocked that they aren't building to TBS/Hogan since...well, since TBS is Andre's son and all, and it's been twenty years.

Next week on ECW! Big Show vs Hogan, with an Orton run in, but at least the foundation is laid for Hogan/Show.

Id have them bringup when Big Show was the Showster too...

WORST SUBMISSION EVER! EVER! FOR ETERNITY EVER!

You forgot about the Cranium Crush.

That didnt involve sticking his oppponents face in his crotch under a dress, so no.

There is no submission move worse than that.

Hey WWE, I don't him hate him because he's an evil foreign guy. I hate him because he's more bland then an empty Genny bottle.

That Tatanka/Sylvan match went a little longer than it should have. Sylvan almost killed Tatanka on that one move where he switched from doing a back drop to a rock bottom type manuever.
