Has a .320 batting average with RISP? Is very efficient at stealing bases? Has a strong arm? What else have you got? He's not a team leader. Nor, is he sufficiently clutch. The road trip that killed their chances last year was a little later in the season, but had basically the same effect as this one. Hopefully they can stay up over .500 this time. I can't take a guy seriously if he thinks David Bell is better than Bobby Abreu. And Aaron Rowand isn't Mr. Fantastic, so I don't know why you expected his arm to stretch that far for a ball that was quite a bit ways over a WALL. I still think they can get 85-86 wins. That's not a bad season, although short of expectations/hopes/dreams/etc. The pitching staff needs a serious overhaul in the offseason. Is there a target date? Bud Selig has expressed no desire to expand anytime in the near future. To answer CanadianChris, I don't believe there is any dilution in the talent base. Is there really any meaningful difference between having the best 750 players or the best 800 players making up the major leagues? People forget there were bad players even when there were 16 players in the league. I think MLB could easily take two more teams. The problem is that you really run into problems if you go past 32, and also that limits the possible relocation threats. It's easier to threaten to move a team when there are viable alternatives.
