Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 Animal Kingdom. Last Friday, King Booker and Batista signed on the dotted line for a World Heavyweight Championship match tonight on Smackdown. "The Animal" held the Championship for nearly nine months before he was forced to relinquish the gold due to injury. According to Batista, he should still be the World Heavyweight Champion, and he will get another chance to prove that tonight on Smackdown. Will we see the end of King Booker's Kingdom? Will "The Animal" claim the throne? There was also a new United States Champion crowned last Friday. Mr. Kennedy defeated former Champion Finlay and hard-hitting superstar Bobby Lashley to claim the gold. Because of the rules of a Triple Threat, the Champion can lose the gold without being pinned, and that's exactly what happened to the angry Irishman. What will Finlay have to say about losing the gold in such a manner? Will he take out his frustration on a fellow superstar? WWE.com has learned that new United States Champion, Mr. Kennedy will celebrate his one year anniversary on Smackdown by making a "major announcement" tonight. What will the arrogant champion say to the Columbus fans on Smackdown? Last week, Vickie Guerrero told Rey Mysterio that he was an "insignificant part of her past", and slapped him across the face. Afterwards, she announced that she was Chavo Guerrero's new business manager. What will Rey have to say about Vickie and Chavo's new partnership? What will Vickie and Chavo do in the first week of their merger? "The Miz" made a surprising successful debut against Tatanka on last week's show. The energetic and sometimes overanxious former reality star's win was not without controversy though. Mizanin repeatedly mocked Tatanka's Native American culture throughout the match, and later, used the ropes for leverage in recording the pin. What will "The Miz" have to say about his impressive debut? You can see all the action for yourself tonight at 8pm/7pm CT on UPN. claydude14 Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 I'm loooking forward to the show, although I haven't checked if my UPN is still even UPN. There's always torrents, which edit out the commercials and are much higher quality than my local UPN feed anyways.
LJSexay Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 ...there's Smackdown torrents?? ...WHAT!
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 I encourage people to watch Smackdown!, as even on an "off night" like last week, it was enjoyable. I'm gonna watch as much as I can tonight, and can totally name 10 people off the top of my head that are fun to watch: 1- Sylvester Terkay 2- Kendrick & London 3- The Pitbulls 4- Stevens & James 5- Finlay 6- Mr. Kennedy 7- Bobby Lashley 8- King Booker 9- Gregory Helms 10- Matt Hardy 11- The Miz Shit, even friggin' TATANKA looked awesome last week. I'm not "offended" by Vicki/Chavo/Rey like the lame hypocritical rest of the IWC, I'm just not interested in Chavo Guerrero, whose career ran its course in 2001, I believe. Or Rey, who has done everything possible in his career. Or a non-attractive woman who obviously isn't a wrestling-business personality. Boring. Batista looks like shit, wrestles like shit, and botched the table spot last week. I hate him. King Booker, though, totally owns him in every possible way each time they're in each other's way, so I watch it. WATCH SMACKDOWN! As opposed to ECW/Raw, where Jeff Hardy & CM Punk have been the only non-stale, watchable acts on two awful shows filled with McMahons, gay acts, wrestlers half-assing their tired, sloppy, stale acts (RVD/Sabu, Sandman, Spirit Squad, DX, Pig Show), or young wrestlers who aren't ready for their positions not even having good matches (Nitro, Orton, Knox). _______________ Stuff I want to happen: The Fabulous Freebirds double-DDT either the Pitbulls or Kendrick/London straight to hell again. Hell, let the 'birds win the belts tonight and have the two better working teams kill each other trying to get them. Kennedy defends the title against Finley or Lashley, DQ ending. After last week's "HOW DID THIS SUCK?" boring trainwreck, Kennedy needs a good bout to kick off the title reign. Bring the stiffness. Booker pins Batista. Please. Not clean, but Booker needs some credibility to go with his flawless comedy (both subtle and intentional). More Helms/Hardy goodness. Tag match. Elevate some younger guys. MIZ cheating to win. (Sounds like all he has is an interview, though). ....HOORAH! And finally, let Terkay backhand some poor jobber to hell.
Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 Tonight's Smackdown line-up: Rey Mysterio .VS. Fit Finlay. Mr. Kennedy .VS. Lawrence Tyler. WWE Tag Team Champions, Brian Kendrick & Paul London, & Ashley .VS. K.C. James, Idol Stevens, & Michelle McCool. Bobby Lashley .VS. William Regal. Matt Hardy .VS. "The Miz". Tatanka .VS. Chavo Guerrero. World Heavyweight Title Match: King Booker (with Sharmell) .VS. Batista. This show is preempted seemingly everywhere tonight, so I'd check local listings. It's moving to CW stations in some markets if the UPN station in the market has switched to the MyTV Network. But that's not always the case, either. WWE must be praying for September 22nd, (when CW officially debuts and the show will air just about everywhere weekly on Friday night at 8pm), to get here as soon as possible when it comes to this show.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 Thanks for the lineup, GS. WOW...Finlay/Rey, a Kennedy title defense, Champs+tits/Freebirds+titles, Lashley/Regal stiffness, MIZ/HARDY, Tatanka sick chops, and a World Title match. That's awesome. Wonder what MVP will be doing tonight? And NO VITO! Every segment looks like it will be good to very good.
hyperchord24 Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 That's awesome. Wonder what MVP will be doing tonight? And NO VITO! Every segment looks like it will be good to very good. I thought MVP and Vito were feuding, so maybe if MVP has a segment, you might not get so lucky.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 Kind of. They've been hyping Vito's "undefeated streak" since doing the dress-wearing gimmick. So I don't understand why would they setup a potential match between a rookie with a good gimmick who can talk and Vito? I think that Vito's eventually going to be transitioned into a 'bodyguard" gimmick for MVP once he does a few jobs. Also, anyone notice Vito's gotten really skinny looking?
Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 Well, I think MVP will be the one to end Vito's "undefeated streak" at No Mercy.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 I agree 100%. And then Vito will join up with him, because face Vito is terrible. This undefeated streak, IMO, is being done to build some wins up for a guy that lost nearly every match with Nunzio throughout 2006. I brought up Vito's size because if he's needed to be the "muscle", he ain't got any.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Well, here we go, Smackdown! time on the UPNCWPhilly57channel
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 I hope somehow Rey would go back to the Cruiser division. His matches haven't exactly been very good since doing the never-ending Eddie feud, Batista tag matches with MNM, mini-feud with Kane/Show, ridiculous record-setting Rumble win in one of the shittiest Rumbles in memory, Orton battles, spot-tastic sloppy quickie WM title win, JBL matches, Booker title loss, and current feud + crappy bout with Chavo at SummerSlam. But I don't see how that would happen. Rey needs to get a groove on again and come up with new spots to keep my attention. FINLAY LOVES TO FIGHT and goes with the "Road Team" black/green attire tonight. JBL "took HBK years to get over losing his smile"...yet yet won the tag Titles 3 months later and World Title 9 months later, huh? Nice matwork. I like how Cole sells Finlay's gutwrench slam like "WHOA!" and then Rey no-sells it and rolls outside.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Chris Masters must have used this BowFlex. I like JBL, he makes the show feel like a SPORTS event. But Cole keeps making stupid assertions, unrelated comparisons, and stating incorrect facts. And this is like 3 minutes in. How the man got an XM show, much less has it pulgged on Stern astounds me as he is the most un-hip person ever. Finlay has pretty much OWNED Mysterio on TV, even as world champ. This ass-kicking near squash isn't surprising. BTW, this crowd SUCKS. Finlay locks on the Lion Tamer~! Now he has this modified Terry Gordy-esque single leg crab. Just tap Rey.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Finlay kills Rey with the Celtic Cross for the pin after Rey "slips" attempting to execute a twisting springboard dropkick. Nothing special at all. I hope Rey does he "gets pummeled" act next week with Terkay or someone.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Kennedy puts over the jobber, legit former Olympic silver medalist, 10-time lifting champ, NCAA champ? Who? Ha, nevermind "6 time NCAA Champion" haha. YES KENNEDY BRINGS BACK THE LAMBEAU LEAP! Youknowitsthe(Rodney)MackMillitant! Hollaholladollabill! Kennedy wants to go to Raw. Oh shit, Taker/Kennedy at No Mercy. Jeez. That's not gonna be very good.
Downhome Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Wow, this Smackdown has been solid so far. That was great, seeing KK do that finisher.
Spaceman Spiff Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Noticed Rey didn't wear the "EG" armband this week.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Tag Champs get even uglier masks.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 This team rules. BEAUTIFUL BOBBY JC JAMES EATON and IDOL EZ MONEY STEVENS. They better use that Freebird DDT. And both women are among WWE's hottest.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 MVP is like Green Lantern fan at the ROH/CZW Cage of Death show when someone had tickets in "his" seats and he cried to ROH security to sit there. "Yo I aint got no tickets? Hook me up! Yo security man whassup you got some tickets for me?"
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 "It's on like neckbone!"
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Smackdown! on 9/8 scored a 0.000000001 broadcast rating, with a few people looking for re-runs of The Parkers, a few stoners forgetting to change the channel, and one guy on a message board watching it. -no one
Kahran Ramsus Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Smackdown! on 9/8 scored a 0.000000001 broadcast rating, with a few people looking for re-runs of The Parkers, a few stoners forgetting to change the channel, and one guy on a message board watching it. -no one Two guys on a message board.
AmazingRen Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Three guys. I just was going too wait until the show was over to post.
Downhome Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Ha, Finaly is so awesome. I really enjoyed the show tonight.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Should be a sitcom. BTW, hopefully working a program with Finley can improve Batista's in-ring ability, ala Lashley.
Downhome Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 I've just about given up on Batista.
