Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2006 How exactly did Rudi Johnson get left off and yet Willie Parker was included? Or how about Brian Westbrook, Ronnie Brown, Steven Jackson, and Lamont Jordan. Thomas Jones and Willie Parker are nice, but they are not amongst the top 15 backs in this league. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 14, 2006 I don't know if the Patriots are really an elite team at this point. They are losing way too many guys. I mean good grief, they damn near lost at home to the BILLS, if not for JP Losman being a moron and getting a safety. Yeah, they can still sneak by uninspired teams like Buffalo and the Jets, but I don't think they are a serious threat. They can win the division, but is it that hard to beat out the Jets, Bills, and Dante Culpepper? I watched the game again last night, and it really boiled down to the Patriots having a REAL bad first half and Brady having a bad game overall (partly caused by the whole Branch situation according to him). After that 4th down stop, the Bills had no shot and were dominated the rest of the game (they gained something like 3 yards total after that). The Bills defense actually had a pretty damn good game as they had guys flying all over the field and getting free on the outside for hits on Brady. If Losman can be halfway competent for the entire game, they might be one of those "Yeah they aren't that good, but they sure ain't a pushover" kind of team. That's what the Bills are. A fast defense that can make plays. But, won't dominate anyone because their run D usually blows. Their DT's are a joke. It's embarassing that Tim Anderson starts for another year. And with Troy Vincent gone for the year... the secondary is quickly getting very young and unproven. And if the Bills lose Takeo again for any significant time, hello 2-14, or 3-13. The offense has playmakers but way too many weak parts. The O-Line is garbage. The TE's are garbage. But, Evans will manage a few huge games out of nowhere, and you know Willis will run hard every game.

KingPK 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 Oakland (0-1) at Baltimore (1-0) The Raiders might be the worst team in the history of the world. Fitting that Aaron Brooks is the quarterback. Baltimore 51, Oakland 3 Ouch.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 15, 2006 Pittsburgh (1-0) at Jacksonville (1-0) This will be the most physical Monday-nighter of the year. These two teams are brutish. I question rushing Ben Roethlisberger back, if, indeed, he's still a little under the weather. Jacksonville 18, Pittsburgh 17 Guy's got a point. This will be a hell of a fun Monday nighter to watch. New Orleans (1-0) at Green Bay (0-1) I don't know why, really. I guess because this game, quite literally, is the Packers' season. They're at Detroit, at Philly and at Miami for three of their next four, and starting 0-2 at home would end any hopes they have of salvaging Mike McCarthy's rookie year. Green Bay 17, New Orleans 12 Yeah. And the Philly game is on Monday night, too. Do we EVER get a fucking home game against these guys?
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 I believe prior to the 2003-2004 playoffs, the Eagles played at Lambeau field twice during the Reid era. One was a 6-3 loss in 2000, and the other game was a 21-17 win on MNF in 2003.
devo 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 I find it funny that SI.com's picks have the Jets scoring nine points, since Mike Nugent made it blatantly obvious last week that he's completely incapable of kicking field goals.

Nasty sleet, and it was a war between Ryan Longwell and David Akers with both offenses completely unable to do shit.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 16, 2006 See, I love those games. It's a war of attrition and a test of will. I like ugly football. One of my all-time favorite games was a brutal sunday night mudder between KC and Seattle at arrowhead. They started evacuating fans and shit because of the lightning. Weather was crazy. Every play was a smash up the gut and both teams were totally exhausted. I don't even remember who won.

They could be thinking of a TD, a safety and a made XP. I realize that Nugent making an XP is only about 50/50 at best.

I remember that because we had the same series of storms down here before the game and they were brutal. I think the low-end of my neighborhood got flooded. Guest Paul Report post Posted September 16, 2006 The Giants need to play some pass defense tomorrow. Their DB's need to pick off passes that hit them in the numbers. Tiki should have his usual day. The penalties have to stop. The Linc will be loud.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted September 17, 2006 The Bears will wear their white jerseys and navy pants in their home opener Sunday against the Lions for the second straight year. They had to notify the NFL office several months ago and made the decision because of the potential for warm weather. By the way, the high temperature is expected to be 78 degrees Sunday in Chicago. Oh fuck that. Also, Chicago's defense only ranks 12th in the league, which I found strange. You'd think recording the shutout would automatically qualify them for the top three along with S.D. and Baltimore. Oh well. I know other statistics come into play here, but I figured that points allowed was the most important metric in ranking defenses, and sacks, yardage, and so forth were ancillary concerns. Team defense is done by total yards allowed. Yes, it's a retarded way to rank teams considering that a team that allows 300 yards and 31 points would rank higher than a team that gives up 375 yards and 13 points. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 17, 2006 Or in this case, 267 yards and 0 points. Depending on who people are hyping up, they'll call a team by what they rank highest in. Like last year, Chicago was the NFL's #1 defense, because of their points allowed, but whoever was the lowest yards allowed was also the #1 ranked defense. For me the true #1 is who allows the least amount of points after allowing the least amount of yards. I think that honor also went to Chicago last year. Guest Felonies! Report post Posted September 17, 2006 I think Tampa Bay actually finished first because they were playing for the wild card in Week 17 whereas Chicago sent out the scrubs against the Vikings.
