Guest Princess Leena Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I'm seeing 29-24 Navy now... which would be impossible in OT.
Xavier Cromartie Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I shouldn't have picked my crackbrained alma mater.
CanadianChris Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Sportsline has 24-17. I'd guess 24-23 is the correct score if there was a blocked PAT, though.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Yahoo has 29-24 Navy in regulation. ESPN has 29-24 Navy in OT, which can't happen. Sportsline is still stuck at 24-17 Tulsa, but for some reason, their scores stop the first time anyone scores in OT. Oy.
Bored Posted September 23, 2006 Author Report Posted September 23, 2006 Okay finally saw highlights and it was indeed Tulsa 24, Navy 23.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Geez, what a mess. Ortonsault. And this looks like another ugly week of picks for everyone as most had Minnesota, Navy and BG.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Despite missing out on Friday's game, I actually win this week I think. Wow.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Alabama's retarded kicker and the rainy no-offense day in Columbus means I need to run the table tonight. Hail hail SMU.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I'm a lousy 4 of 8 thus far, but I doubt many are much better.
CanadianChris Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Horrible week, but a win's a win. I should be dead last in the points against category by now, though.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I'll be up there with you. I'll have 6 of 14 if Houston can pull it out.
Bored Posted September 24, 2006 Author Report Posted September 24, 2006 I'll post conference standings after next week is completed. Art Sandusky Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 ARGH See what being late with your picks gets you? Fuck fuck fuck. I feel sorry for whoever plays me next and goes "Ah, he's only 2-2."
Guest Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 FINALLY. FUCK. I read the tiebreakers wrong. Shit.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I should be #2 next week. Allez.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Carnival moves from 40th to 37th in the rankings. Congrats, E.
Bored Posted September 24, 2006 Author Report Posted September 24, 2006 The new #1 is the old #1 as I'm sure you could figure out by the results, but Ortonsault still had a relatively strong showing so only drops one spot. Of course the CONTROVERSY~ will be my ranking even though I'm only 2-2 but I'm tied for 3rd in correct picks so there's your answer. Ya go ahead and call me dirty names like "Pac-10 referee" or something. But I'm not the only 2-2 team that cracks the Top 10 as you'll see. The other controversy will be the still missing nogoodnick. Sorry nick your 20th in correct picks right now at just 58.9% so you've been lucky. A lucky win for fellow undefeated phoenixrising cost them in the rankings. Veterans of the contest will know that rankings in even weeks always give some odd results because there's a bunch of teams at .500 which causes havoc with the rankings. Also the large number of no shows this week also screwed things up a bit. Oh and the new feature that I mentioned last week debuts. Since I expaded to 40 teams this year, which I'm now thinking wasn't the best idea, I considered expanding the BCS rankings as well. Instead though I decided to go with an "Other Receiving Votes" category. This will be the teams ranked 11th thru 14th although they'll be listed in alphabetical order so you won't know your exact ranking but you'll know if your on the edge of the Top 10 or not. Bored Championship Series Rankings thru Week 4 1. Hawaii - Will Scarlet 3.5 2. Temple - Ortonsault 3.75 3. Oregon State - Princess Leena 3.9 4. Miami - Spaceman Spiff 4.7 5. Syracuse - CanadianChris 5.7 6. South Carolina - Cuban Linx 7.4 7. Stanford - Bored 7.5 8. Virginia - Edwin MacPhisto 8.95 9. UCLA - phoenixrising 10.25 10. Rutgers - the pinjockey 10.65 Other Receiving Votes: Arizona State (Spicy McHaggis), Connecticut (SilverPhoenix), Kentucky (Danville Wrestling), Texas A&M (Secret Agent)
Secret Agent Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 How does knocking off the number 1 team and only losing the two games that i lost cause of tiebreakers get me to only "Other Receiving Votes"? Me =
Cuban Linx Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Shitty week for picks, but any week i can go bad yet still win and move up in the rankings i won't complain about.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Ortonsault only has 1 more correct game than me overall. I cry bullshit. Does defeating your opponent not matter in the rankings.
Carnival Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I gotta be up there in the overall correct picks. being 1-3 with an overall tied score with my opponents.
Bored Posted September 24, 2006 Author Report Posted September 24, 2006 Does defeating your opponent not matter in the rankings. The formula is as follows: 45% of the ranking is your win/loss record, 45% of the ranking is your correct pick %, and 10% is your correct pick % against (aka strength of schedule).
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Is Oregon State's horrible strength of schedule hurting them so much. Temple also played the pitiful Buffalo team. With there being 6 undefeated teams (or close to that), the 45% win/loss ranking is Oregon State: 1.0. Temple: 7.0. Therefore, there would need to be a large amount of people (at least 5) with the same pick percentage as Temple, for Oregon State to be below them. Oregon State whines to the media!
iggymcfly Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Aw, I was sure I'd at least be in the "others receiving votes category" after three fairly decent wins. I guess I'm still getting punished for that opening loss where I was tied for last in correct picks.
Hawk 34 Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I'm seriously going for a winless season. I want to be the Temple of Bored's pick-em's.
Carnival Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Is Oregon State's horrible strength of schedule hurting them so much. Temple also played the pitiful Buffalo team. Yes but he didn't need to cheat on the tiebreak to beat me. I'm interested in where I stand, but I'm afraid I'll never get close enough to the top 10 to see.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I want to be the Temple of Bored's pick-em's. You'll have to get through me first. I have no idea who I'm picking so when I'm looking at the scoreboard, I have to come back here and see who I should be wanting to win.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Is Oregon State's horrible strength of schedule hurting them so much. Temple also played the pitiful Buffalo team. Ortonsault always tries to view others' picks before making his own. You're just blinded by your jealousy of my winning ways.
