Guest NYankees Report post Posted October 4, 2006 Uh, yeah, Kenny Rogers is definately a better pitcher than Nate Robertson. Two random playoff games have nothing to do with the fact that the guy is an automatic 15 wins a year, compared to Robertson who can get shelled one game or throw a two hitter the next I was thinking of Kenny Rogers playoff history. In his 3 starts in 1996 the Yankees got rocked each time and were able to win the game in spite of him. In 1999 he sucked against the Braves and walked in the winning run in the final game and just sunday he is walking in runs against the AAA Royals. He is not someone I would want starting in the playoffs. dh86 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2006 Leyland goofed up royally twice last night...running a hit and run with 1 legged Mags as the lead guy was awful playcalling and Robertson should have been out of the game by the 6th...you cant leave a pitcher in to give up 7 runs in the playoffs...hopefully he is quicker to pull Verlander tonight...its a definite must win

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2006 I was working last night untill 10 est so I had to watch the early part on the screens at CC but I did see the 5 run inning and much of the important parts. got home in time for abreus second 2 run hit and the rest of the game from the 7th on. wang wasnt all there last night but he did enough to win (he had that typical multi-run inning then settle down). torres move for myers didnt work, but they lucked out when Proctor got a break by the free swinging tigers. Farnsworth looked odd as the tigers started actually taking pitches but he figured a way out (still nervous about him) Mo looked ok, maybe a bit too strong, but well see what happens if he has to pitch back to back games. alot of questions still left . I hope it doesnt rain cuz thats all moose needs is delays which might hurt his groin again. yanks need to win game 2 IMO, though I guess technically DET needs it more. But I'd feel more comfortable throwing randy against kenny rogers with a 2 game lead. oh well I got asked to work again tonight on my day off (Ill takes that extra cash lol) so Ill miss alot of the early part DAMN go yanks
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2006 JETER'S POSTSEASON CLUTCH HITTING REACHES SUPERHERO PROPORTIONS I especially love the following excerpt: So, after Johnny Damon led off the sixth with a hit, Jeter lined No. 139, a double to left, that set up Bobby Abreu's two-run single. No. 140, culminating his first five-hit game of his postseason career, tying a postseason record held by six, went over the center-field fence in the ninth, more for insurance in the 8-4 victory than because Jeter was wondering if anybody was still watching. No chance you could take your eyes off one of greatest postseason performers in sports history, still going strong as ever in his Yankee October No. 11. Apparently, when ARod hits a home run to extend out a lead, he's simply "tacking on" or "padding his stats." When Jeter hits a home run to extend out a lead, it's "insurance." how true. but yea Jeter was like super-yankee last night. But abreu was clearly the mvp of the game since he drove in 4 runs in his yankee playoff debut. and kyle is a bit too much tom Gordon-esque.

How DARE you compare the Messiah to that lowly peon A-Rod. Don't you know that even when Jeter makes errors it's only because he's so athletic that he got to a ball no one else could have? Nevermind the fact that Derek has 0 range at short and that little ballet move he does is completely unnecessary if he could just move to his left or right a step faster. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2006 AIM chat tonight at tsmbaseball. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rogers come up big in his start. He knows his reputation rides on it.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 Given the thunderstorms we had here the last hour, I think there's going to be a good sized delay in this game.

Guest Felonies! Report post Posted October 5, 2006 Ravech just said MLB catches hell for Yankee playoff games getting delayed until 10 Eastern sometimes. Maybe if they didn't get the late game every single time and play a 1 or 4 p.m. game, this wouldn't happen.
Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 First pitch will be at 10 supposedly, but the second system that's 90 miles out is still on an unknown trajectory
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 Why don't they just delay it until tomorrow? It's not like the travel day is really necessary -- they're going to Detroit, not Anaheim.

The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 And A-Rod looks at a curveball for strike three. I think just about everybody knew that curve was coming but, in A-Rod's defense, that was a pretty nasty breaking ball.
