Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Ladies and gentlemen, tomorrow night you get to tune in to the game ESPN must be hating themselves for scheduling: 1-5 North Carolina at 2-5 Virginia. It's the battle for 10th place in the ACC, and you can only see it on ESPN! I guess this looked like it'd be a decent game in a relatively quiet week, but wow, how that's gone astray. Thrill at the mysterious, narcolpetic playcalling of Al Groh and his son, Mike! Marvel at John Bunting's revolutionary 0-0-0 defense! And watch as the battle in the trenches unfolds--the miserable Virginia o-line against the sleepy, featherweight UNC d-line, in a race to see who falls over first! Also, UL-Monroe are the Warhawks. Pretty good name, and I feel a better team should have it.
nogoodnick 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Random thoughts: UTEP vs Houston is an intruiging matchup this weekend featuring Jordan Palmer vs Kevin Kolb. A couple of possible NFL prospects there. Nebraska is probably overrated. They haven't beaten anyone. I expect Texas to make short work of them. Rutgers-Pitt should be prett good. We should find out which of these teams is for real. Georgia Tech at Clemson is a huge game in the ACC. Both teams could potentially meet again for the conference title. I don't care what Miami did. The helmet smashing was excessive and that dude was disciplined but I don't find the rest of it a big deal. Football is a violent, physical game and fights are bound to happen. Also for us on the west coast this is one of those two weeks out of the year where ABC screws us over by skipping the mid-day games and gives us a late WAC game. You haven't been screwed until you've missed out on a big national game 11 weeks out of the year to watch Montana State Bobcat football. I tried going to the sports bar to watch football the last Saturday I was in town, but if I try that now, I'll be breaking my probation. Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Iggy... you have some serious fucking issues.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Not really. I got my DUI almost a year ago, and quit driving drunk after that. I also quit drinking when I went on probation, and while I don't know if I'll hold strictly to that for the entire year, I'll be drinking rarely if at all. As far as the gambling goes, I've been betting college football really seriously this season. I've been posting regularly on the sports betting forum at 2+2, and tracking my results. I've also been watching a ton of college football, and spending a couple hours every Sunday morning analyzing the next week's games so I can get the best prices when the lines come out Sunday afternoon. On the year, I'm 77-50 and up $5,000 or so betting $100-$500 a game. At this point, I feel pretty confident that I'm a long-term winner.

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 That movie was fairly amusing, but it was pretty far from reality. No one on earth pays thousands of dollars to a tout service, let alone millions, and no one expects to get every game right either. Real winning sports bettors just try to find a few games where the lines are off a little bit to grind out a 55-60% winrate and beat the juice which costs 1.2% in the long run if you're betting at a reduced juice book. You certainly don't bet every game, and you never risk more than 5% of your BR on any one bet, except for a few specific situations like where you're betting a large favorite and the risk of ruin is tolerable. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Yeah, I think two "iggymcflys" with Georgia Tech avatars would be beyond the realm of reasonable coincidence. What's your name on 2+2? Don't think I've noticed you there.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Probably not, I haven't posted there much lately. I go by True North there. I stopped playing poker about 6 weeks ago, because I was burned out, and because I was anticipating the downturn after the Safe Ports Act was passed. I was into sports betting last year; I may get back into it if I can build a decent-sized roll.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2006 I like how Delaware is split between FSU/BC and Michigan/Iowa. Who decides that? Mason Dixon line runs unofficially (VERY unofficially) right through the middle of Delaware. Usually around Milford is the complete change in what game you get on ABC. So basically, below Dover (sometimes Milford, depends on how ABC is feeling) is considered the Southern half and above Dover is considered the Northern half of the country. Which makes perfect sense actually since everyone above Dover has a mild Philly accent while the rest of us sound like we really love Larry the Cable Guy. And sadly, a lot of the people here do. So us in Sussex County get ACC sports.

It is undeniably useless to the United States of America. The wonders of wiki Wish the bloody people of the states of Penn and NJ would stop visiting and moving here then. Other than the beaches, Dover Air Force base, tax free shopping and US business dispute courts, I'd say it is pretty damn accurate. Well that and our chicken production plants.
