"Rock is boring"

Yes, and Sting is the be all, end all when it comes to great music.

Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that.

not enough people talk about outlandos d'amour. what a superb album. the rest of the police's stuff is overated filler amongst their greatest hits.

I think Synchronicity is pretty good, but yeah, there is a big dropoff between their best songs and the rest.

I wouldn't rip on The Doors. Otherwise, Jim Morrison will come back from the grave and whip out his dick.

But at least Jim Morrison is compelling and interesting as a person and a personality (for better or for worse). Sting doesn't even have that going for him. One of the benefits of dying young...you have less time to get old and boring.

I'm working on building up a case for the Doors. They really do have some excellent songs. I'm giving the Velvet Underground yet another chance before picking the worst fight in the history of the music folder.

I can't stand the sound...of the Velvet Underground.

Yeah, but seriously...the Doors have some really good songs and from the video I've seen and the tracks I've heard they were a really good live band...and one of my favorite scenes from The Simpsons involves Homer wandering sadly around town singing "The End". When he gets to the "weird scenes inside the goldmine" part, I bust out laughing.

Sting has always been an arrogant prick throughout his career, despite his attempt at re-invention through the "discovery" of Tantra. Its like Madonna and Kabbalah. Same exact thing.

That being said, I could listen to Synchronicity until I am old and gray. Motherfuck Jim Morrison.

"I'm drunk, I'm nobody. I'm drunk, I'm famous. I'm drunk, I'm fucking dead."

-Denis Leary on Jim Morrison and the Doors movie.

I've said all I wanted to say about the Doors and am not interested in arguing taste. The lengthy discussion I've engaged in today re GNR has nothing to do with whether or not I think they're good.

"Cars Hiss.." actually might be one of my favorite Doors songs. That's their best album, anyway. Fat drunk Jim is better than gyrating acid Jim.
