But at least Jim Morrison is compelling and interesting as a person and a personality (for better or for worse). Sting doesn't even have that going for him. One of the benefits of dying young...you have less time to get old and boring.

I often confuse the Doors and Police with each other, so I can understand the direction this thread is going.

Yeah, but seriously...the Doors have some really good songs and from the video I've seen and the tracks I've heard they were a really good live band...and one of my favorite scenes from The Simpsons involves Homer wandering sadly around town singing "The End". When he gets to the "weird scenes inside the goldmine" part, I bust out laughing.

When the Doors were on, they were really good (see the first album), but they could be terribly inconsistent. Cars Hiss By My Window is one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

"Cars Hiss.." actually might be one of my favorite Doors songs. That's their best album, anyway. Fat drunk Jim is better than gyrating acid Jim.
