An idea

Recommended Posts

OK, so how about we move Storm to Saturday? No-one wants to write for Storm because we all have work or school or whatever. Plus, as can be seen from last night's show, even those people who say they'll write for Storm sometimes won't, and out of a fed of something like 15 (allegedly) active writers, I'm the only one who promo'd. A move to saturday could give everyone at least one day to get SOMETHING in.

Now,the opposing argument would be that it splits the weekend in half, and no-one would be able to get enough done on the Saturday to get a show in for Storm, and no-one would be able to get enough done on the Sunday (what with potential late cards and all) to write for Lockdown, so we could end up with two shows of bugger all instead of one. However, I feel that this is a suggestion that needs making as from my (rare) conversations on AIM with Raynor I know that the lack of availibility to be booked for Storm makes it difficult for even our happy pranking Head of CC to turn his frown upside down. This would turn Lockdown into the 'four-day writing show'.

HOWEVER, another option presents itself, which is to move Storm to Saturday AND Lockdown to Thursday, keeping Smarkdown on the Monday. The reason being, Smarkdown becomes the one show with two weekend days to write for, but is also the show with only four days to write. So the weekend is broken up - you have one writing day out of the weekend for each of the shows with five days to write, and for the show with less writing time you get both days of the weekend to write.

What do we think?

Why not just make the shows every 5 days, or would that throw off the schedules to much? I know I'm one of those that didn't get shit in for Storm but I've just been sick on top of working a long week.

I like it. The weekend split shouldn't be a huge deal, both because of the extra day and because an hour a day of writing, at least for me, can get a solid 5-6k done.

Motivation is another thing entirely. Chances are extremely low every single no-shower didn't have enough time to write, but I think a big thing with Storm was that people didn't have enough time to procrastinate. Smarkdown was over and then it was time to get writing for Storm, while, since Storm was over, you could lolligag for a day for Lockdown, and then with Smarkdown, you could lolligag for two days. I understand there are exceptions, but in relation to my point, this gives every show a solid block of lolligagery to grown 'ugh, I'd rather not write'. If you got that mentality with Storm, you probably wouldn't write, because you wouldn't have enough time. Just my two cents.

I likes the idea of moving Storm to Saturdays - I figure most people who have social lives like to do things on Friday nights, and if it's a choice between going out or writing, I imagine going out is gonna win. Pushing it back a day would give everyone with weekends a decent amount of time to write.

And as far as I know, Thursdays aren't any worse than Wednesdays as far as writing is concerned. :P

This Lockdown will be Thursday anyway, to make up for the delay - after A2A, I'll try it out and see if that makes things easier.

Guest A Silent Presence

I was seriously considering writing something for Storm until I mulled over the obvious:

-the SAT was this morning (Saturday, technically yesterday), and God does it suck having to get up to go take that so early.

-I was beyond tired from earlier in the week and the weekend before which I never really recovered from having had been out in the cold for over 12 hours and having gotten sick from the experience.

-I was booked against my future tag partner.

With that said, the thing meant to replace the match should be posted on the boards in a couple hours (probably this afternoon).
