snuffbox 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2006 If John Kerry is this great orator that we were told he is two years ago, why is he always botching lines like this? Most great orators should probably refrain from much 'joking' "Why did the uh chicken cross of gold...the road...cross...uh..." -William Jennings Bryan
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted November 2, 2006 Bryan, not Bryant. Don't sweat it, though; this is just TSM. My old high school's 2006 yearbook said "Bryant," and that's cause for concern. Actually, I heard that if you read his notes, the joke was supposed to be something like, if you don't go to school, you end up dumb and do stupid stuff like getting stuck in Iraq, like Bush did. That doesn't even make sense, because the kids at Pasadena City College aren't going to fuck up the whole world like Bush did by blowing off school. I'm thinking at worst, they rob a liquor store. Kerry should outsource his Bush-bashing jokes. I'm sure there are plenty of dorks with blogs who would jump for that.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted November 3, 2006 Czech beat me to what I was going to say regarding this. Hell, it probably could've applied to me considering what had happened when I joined the Marines in 2001 (enlisted before Sept. 11th, went to boot camp a while afterwards, was discharged for petty bullshit but still have the right to re-enlist). I mean, I'm 23 now and I'm in my junior year of college, so I sure as hell didn't do much in the 4 years I would've been in other than get in a lot of trouble with drugs and whatnot. But hey, I might've died in Iraq, so maybe it worked out better for me this way. I sure as hell didn't try all that hard or care about my future at the end of high school despite finishing with a 3.5 GPA, and I figured the military would be a good choice if that were the case, and my brother was just coming out of the Marines after doing basically the same thing, although he started at my current age and went into infantry because he's a bit of an idiot and couldn't score high enough on the ASVAB for anything else. SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2006 This is so stupid. The Republican interpretation of Kerry's comments only made sense if there were a draft and a college exemption. We have an all-volunteer army, for fuck's sake. No one is going to end up there if they don't want be.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2006 I think the GOP is desperately hoping that this issue with John Kerry will distract voters until the election, which is why all the elephant riding pundits are playing it up, but I think they're sorely mistaken. SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2006 Well, one good thing that will come of this: John Kerry will probably never run for president again. I was one of his biggest supporters in 2004, but now he's joined Ted Kennedy and Hillary as the RNC's auto-pilot punchline.

DerangedHermit 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2006 Well lets get some conservatives up on the mic telling jokes and see how well THEY do! I want to hear some right-wing jokes. Don't you remember George W.'s SNL type skit at a Dec. 2004 correspondent's dinner with him searching the White House for weapons of mass destruction?
