Sars-stock

I got stuck working because most of the people at work had the day off, and only one out of 10 people went to it.

I also had a chance to see Headstones and Blue Rodeo live a few years back, when I was in grade 9.

Two Iron Maiden shows as well.

Final Fantasy makes me sleepy, but in a good way. The two shows I regret missing the most are...the Magnetic Fields two Decembers ago in Houston and Sufjan Stevens in Austin a couple months ago. However, both were playing two shows and I saw each of them once. I just wish I woulda seen both shows for each of them.

He Poos Clouds is considerably better than Has A Good Home, with all of the whimsy intact. I'd move onto that, after you finish crying yourself to sleep.

Also, you can probably use P2P to find the bootlegs of his performance from this year's Over The Top Festival, which has a nice mix of tracks from both albums. I'd recommend checking out "Hey Dad", specifically.

Probably the Tsunami Benefit Show in Toronto 2 years ago with Broken Social, Stars, Metric, Feist and Collett. I've seen all of them seperate or in combinations but to get all of that in one night would've been swank.

Bob Dylan with Willie Nelson. To this day, I have no idea why I did not go. I wanted to go, decided not to go and been kicking myself ever since. I had everything set up to get third row center seats and I didn't make the purchase. One of these days I'll figure out exactly what the hell I was thinking.

I know it wasn't price, it was only 55 bucks.

I missed David Lee Roth about 3 years ago when he was touring. His first tour sold out but then he injured himself. When he came back they changed the venue but I had my final school exams and so couldn't go.

A triple bill in late '01/early '02, Weezer was headlining, Tenacious D were the main openers and Jimmy Eat World were first on the bill (This was right as "The Middle" was breaking on the radio). I'm not a huge fan of JEW (I used the abbreviation just because it's 10x funnier that way) but I saw Weezer last summer and they were great and I love me some Tenacious D.

I couldn't go because it was a school night and this was when I was too young to go to shows on school nights. Damn parents!

Oh, I remember that I was disheartened this past September when I was in Austin for ACL and I missed seeing Tom Petty (who I heard was really good, despite a 45-minute rain delay) and a TV on the Radio show at a club that I had to miss, seeing as how I had to drive back to Houston and get up for work the next morning at like...7 AM.

And when I was sixteen, I remember being really pissed that my parents made me go with them to my relatives for Thanksgiving and made me miss seeing Buck O' Nine. Anybody remember Buck O' Nine? Yeah...me neither.

Tattoo the Earth - Milwaukee Summer 2000...too young/poor to go across the state for rock/roll

Bob Dylan - La Crosse WI, Fall 2001...Though it was only $30 and less than an hour away, I couldnt attend due to living with a woman/child while I was still in high school.

Modest Mouse/Wolf Parade - Milwaukee, August 2004...I was on the East Coast.

only a true canadian can reference a show with the headstones & blue rodeo. it doesn't get any more canadiana than blue fucking rodeo.

It was free too.

The day after was David Usher and Edwin.

Ya...great Canadian talent. :D

Summer Sanitarium 2k. I didn't care about any of the bands but Metallica and Kid Rock, but I couldn't go because I had no money and no ride. I thought I'd make up for it at Summer Sanitarium '03...but that show was awful. I was bored for 4 hours before Metallica took the stage.

The Misfits at URI in April '06, and in Cambridge in August '06. Yeah, not the REAL Misfits, but it's the closest thing to the REAL Misfits that's been seen in years now that Robo's back on drums. Made my girlfriend upset, too, since they aren't back around until after the Euro tour is done (which is November/December '06).

OzzFest '04 and OzzFest '05. Sabbath, Maiden, Priest reunion, Slayer, and Shadows Fall. REAL metal. I missed 'em all. Girlfriend-at-the-time didn't want to go in '04 so I stayed home bored, and I had to work the day of OzzFest '05 so I couldn't go then. Ended up drinking half a fifth of Smirnoff Blue Label after my folks left for the weekend on the day of OzzFest '05, and was fucking hammered when my friends showed up afterwards. Finished off the fifth, a few shots of peppermint schnapps, and I think a beer later...and I didn't care because I was listening to Gwar.

Conversely, there should be a thread for shows you regretted going to.

No, because anytime there's a show I want to see, I will do everything in my power to see it. Concerts here (especially good ones) are few and far between, so you gotta get while the getting's good.

I did want to relate something a buddy of mine did though. Back in 2000, he skipped going to the Misfits concert, despite being a big Misfits fan. Why? Because he had a paper to write.

Here's the kicker: When we got to class, he realized that the paper he'd skipped the Misfits concert to write wasn't even due for like, a week.

Poor bastard.

I had won two floor tickets to U2 in San Jose last year, two days before the show. Anyways, the night of the show I had tickets that I paid for to see Garbage in San Francisco. While, I probably should have taken the U2 tickets as that would have been the only time that I would have been on the floor for U2, I made 400 bucks cash on them and financed a trip to So-Cal later in the year.
