Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 29, 2007 New England gets Randy Moss/Oakland gets a 4th round pick. Why couldn't GB do this? It's simple, I heard this yesterday. Apparently the choice was going to be between GB and NE, and the sticking point was the restructuring of Moss' contract. Moss was willing to rework his deal for New England, a team that he thinks he could win a Super Bowl with, and Green Bay wasn't willing to cough up money for a player that the fans are heavily split on, and that they might overpay for and not be able to sign all their rookies. I think this worked out best for everybody. Moss will excel in New England, while it would've only been a headache in Green Bay, money-wise and effort-wise. KingPK 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 (edited) The fuck is a Fred Bennet? You'd fucking think that by now, someone in the Texans' FO would be maybe looking over the O Line and saying: "Gee.. maybe we should sorta fill this thing out..." And the other small difference is most of the guys the Patriots signed aren't past their prime old free agents who should have retired the year they were signed. Except maybe Moss but I'm hoping he has one bitch free season in him. Me too. If the guy is willing to "dramatically restructure" his contract to lessen the cap hit, that makes me feel better. You just know the media over here is going to be hovering over him like vultures just waiting for the first sign of bad behavior. The difference between the Patriots and the Redskins is that the Patriots saw this as a pretty weak overall draft, so they opened up the pocketbook more while trading picks for more next year or guys like Moss. The Redskins just throw money at whatever player gets the most SportsCenter highlights. Zak DeOssie goes to the team his father Steve won a SuperBowl with, the Giants. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 the pats can have moss. the raiders got both josh mccown and mike williams for a 4th rounder. i love it. mccown will start this year, and hopefully williams can finally get this shit together. if so, look out. raiders, baby. I have to agree. I know it's early but I wouldn't be surprised to see Oakland make that leap that we see a sucky team do each year. I am confident Kiffin will get more out of Mike Williams. I'm not sure about McCown being the starting quarterback though. He proved to have flashes of brilliance with Arizona, but what kind of offense is Kiffin planning to implement? Do you know, Banky? Sass?
KingPK 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 If the Raiders were in the NFC, I'd say they may be a playoff team, but in the AFC they'll probably improve to 6-8 wins.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 29, 2007 Depends on which division you're talking about there, PK. If the Raiders and Cards switched places, they'd still probably do about the same. The Rams and Niners I think will both improve this year, the latter substantially. This is probably the last year the Seahawks have in their "window of opportunity", so they'll be tough. I wouldn't go making blanket statements about each conference like that, though. The AFC represented about half of the top ten in this year's draft. Both conferences split in the middle. Believe it or not, they're pretty even- it's just that when you get a good team in the AFC, you get a REALLY good team that gets a lot of wins (just like how you'll also get a REALLY bad team that just racks up losses), while the NFC is scrappy at all levels (good, average, and bad). I wouldn't go making assumptions about Oakland just yet, though. I still think they're at least another year away, and they only have one real tested offensive weapon now in Jerry Porter. I mean, if Mike Williams, JaMarcus Russell, and co. all come out firing on all cylinders, then great, but that's only wishful thinking at this point. Cleveland might even be a team that could possibly save some face this year, though. Unfortunately, I see Houston picking in the top five again next year. Now they have no running back and an untested starter. I'm sure they'll do fine on defense, though!
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I'm waiting for WR David Ball (New Hampshire) to get his name called. Not a big speed threat (4.66 40) but he has good quickness (6.94 3 Cone and 4.21 SS) and hands of glue. Would make a good #4/#5 WR for a team right now with an outside chance to wind up around #2 in a few years as a possession guy. Also Justise Hairston, RB, went to the Patriots
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 Ben Patrick FINALLY went off the board at pick 215 to the Cardinals. It may be a late pick but that is possibly the best situation in the world to fall into. The Cards don't have many tight ends and if his blocking improves, he'll definitely be able to make the team as a receiving threat over the middle. Still no sign of David Ball, that makes me very sad. Mr Irrelevant is none other than Ramzee Robinson CB from Alabama. They are going to search for a wife or girlfriend if he doesn't have one, that is possibly the greatest thing ever. The NFL dating service kicks it in AND he gets a BBQ. Chris Leak, Jared Labransky, Matt Moore, Darius Walker, Andre Caldwell and David Ball all go undrafted.

Broward83 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 Alright, can ESPN and the NFL (thru Madden) just fucking stop with the continual shitting on Houston? Yeah I know, we haven't had the best drafts... yeah, I know that only the Lions are about the only team that sucks as much as we have the past five years... yeah, I know that in using hindsight, alot of the moves are "bone-headed" and shit, but fuckin seriously.. stop with the shit. I'm tired of turning it on to ESPN and seeing that draft commercial where the Texans have no o-line on the field. I'm tired of seeing two different fuckin Madden commercials with VY and Bush basically ripping the Texans for not picking them and how they're better off. I'm REALLY fuckin tired of Mel Kiper JR's bitch-ass taking digs at the team because he's a supposed "Draft guru".. seriously, if his job was that fuckin hard.. then how did someone on here out-pick him and win a car and a trip to Bristol? (/rant) Sorry.. just been a fan of Houston football nearly all my life and I hate having to see my team get shat on by every fucking talking head at ESPN and by Madden / NFL itself.. Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I'm surprised Matt Moore wasn't drafted. He's the type of boring, stiff, efficient QB that the NFL loves. Especially since some guys like Rowe and Stanback went.

Guest Richard McBeef Report post Posted April 30, 2007 The Bears should hoard a bunch of undrafted free agent quarterbacks and make Rex Grossman prove he's better than all of them.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Next, Jared Zabransky. Make it happen, Chicago. I would like the two quarterbacks who led their teams to shocking wins in the bowls.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Leak will likely only get a look as a RB. Sucks for Zabransky. I think his arm strength is enough for him to a shot as a 3rd string QB somewhere...
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Or just find better coverage of the draft. NFL Network > ESPN. Charles Davis of the NFL Network actually stood up for Mario Williams. Not to say it was the correct pick, but ESPN does treat him like he's got the plague.

USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Leak will likely only get a look as a RB. Have you even seen him? He can't run that fast... or well. Tim Tebow was doing all the running, or most of it, for Florida last year. His strong suit is the passing, and he's not going to be that good on the NFL level, I think. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 i'ms surprised at troy smiths fall. i thought 3rd round, tops. After spending the weekend away from TV, finding out the Ravens took him in the 5th round was surprising. I suppose Boller knows hes as good as gone then..and what better player for Troy Smith to learn under for a year (or two?) than McNair. I Dont know about the rest of their draft...sadly I cant say Ive heard of any of the other players they drafted other than Grubbs, which probably is actually a good thing..
