Not appreciably. Attendance was up 1% last year over 03-04, and it's up another 1% this year.

What's your point? Greater Chicago encompasses multiple counties in three states.

Alright, Baron - The door is wide open for you to blatantly rip off that book I loaned you in parts of 2004 and 2005 and make a joke about Greater/Metro Toronto.

 

And as long as we're picking Ocean's post apart, why the fuck does Portland need a team? Without getting into it for the umpteenth time, Winnipeg, Hartford and Quebec City could handle a team again, I'd argue Atlantic Canada could support one, Cleveland doesn't seem like a ridiculous option, and most of all, the team that would most likely wind up in Portland, Pittsbugh, has some legs growing under it. The NHL should focus on getting ownership for them, like they did with Buffalo and Ottawa, then worrying about Portland.

Cleveland and Cincinnati go through minor-league hockey teams like toilet paper. Not enough room for them with the Buckeyes and Jackets. Portland or Seattle could have a team, Halifax could too, I'd say Hamilton, but Toronto and Buffalo are both in that area, so...

 

As for Anaheim, I'm sure you could find people supporting your side, because they want to believe they're a separate entity, but to the rest of us, it's plain to see that Anaheim is part of greater LA.

Portland is the most viable place for relocation, as far as I'm concerned. Good arena, and it keeps a team out west. Plus, there's not much to do there, so hockey could be a possible draw. I really like the idea of a team in Salt Lake City...

Salt Lake City is whiter than snow, so hockey ought to flourish there, but I think they've been having trouble getting the Grizzlies to draw. They got demoted to the ECHL, I think.

 

I wonder if Portland and Seattle just aren't hockey towns, though.

I like Seattle as location for a hockey team after Winnipeg, Quebec City, and Hartford.

Even thought Wikipedua says Anaheim is a suburb of LA. the people of Orange County and LA wouldn't think so. Like I said before LA to Anaheim is NY to Long Island.

CG, I'm expecting the opposite tonight with the Habs/Bruins game. I think both teams are going to play an emotional game due to both teams having off-ice things being on their minds. I think the Habs win tonight, because quite frankly, the Bruins do not have a replacement the caliber of Kessel right now (sure he only has 9 points and is a -8, but his replacement is Yan Stastny) and the Habs haven't lost anyone on their roster. I'm thinking this will be an emotional game for both sides and will effect them worse for the next few weeks.

Apparently the refs have decided that the Habs will not lose on Bob Gainey night. Alberts draws an interference penalty for playing defense, Chistov gets interference for Samsonov standing in his way, Savard gets tripping for being tripped by a Hab and having the Hab fall on him on the way down.
