CanadianChris Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Anaheim's not a LA suburb, Mighty Ducks was the greatest logo ever, and their attendance appears to be higher now than before the lockout. Not appreciably. Attendance was up 1% last year over 03-04, and it's up another 1% this year.

Star Ocean 3 Posted December 12, 2006 Author Report Posted December 12, 2006 one) different county, not a suburb how dare you edit
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 What's your point? Greater Chicago encompasses multiple counties in three states. The Greater Los Angeles Area, or the Southland, is the agglomeration of urbanized area around the city of Los Angeles, California. There are two "official" definitions — the Los Angeles metropolitan area consisting only of Los Angeles and Orange County, and the Combined Statistical Area (a group of interacting metropolitan areas) sprawled over five counties in the southern part of California, namely Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County and Ventura County.
Star Ocean 3 Posted December 12, 2006 Author Report Posted December 12, 2006 so where's the quote from?

CanadianGuitarist Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Alright, Baron - The door is wide open for you to blatantly rip off that book I loaned you in parts of 2004 and 2005 and make a joke about Greater/Metro Toronto. And as long as we're picking Ocean's post apart, why the fuck does Portland need a team? Without getting into it for the umpteenth time, Winnipeg, Hartford and Quebec City could handle a team again, I'd argue Atlantic Canada could support one, Cleveland doesn't seem like a ridiculous option, and most of all, the team that would most likely wind up in Portland, Pittsbugh, has some legs growing under it. The NHL should focus on getting ownership for them, like they did with Buffalo and Ottawa, then worrying about Portland.
Star Ocean 3 Posted December 12, 2006 Author Report Posted December 12, 2006 I like Portland and feel bad that they only have the Blazers. Not much to say about the suburb thing, I found enough quotes from other sites backing me up but there's no point in posting them here.
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Cleveland and Cincinnati go through minor-league hockey teams like toilet paper. Not enough room for them with the Buckeyes and Jackets. Portland or Seattle could have a team, Halifax could too, I'd say Hamilton, but Toronto and Buffalo are both in that area, so... As for Anaheim, I'm sure you could find people supporting your side, because they want to believe they're a separate entity, but to the rest of us, it's plain to see that Anaheim is part of greater LA.
CanadianChris Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Discussion over. Given that the new owner of the Penguins is from southern Ontario, I think you'd see them move to Canada before going to Portland.
CanadianGuitarist Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Washington squanders a FOUR goal lead and loses in a shootout to Pittsburgh. Ovechkin, Crosby and Malkin all with two points. Since it'll be best appreciated here, Cindy Klassen wins the '06 Lou Marsh.

A team in Hamilton would cripple the Sabres franchise in a heartbeat.
Guest Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Portland is the most viable place for relocation, as far as I'm concerned. Good arena, and it keeps a team out west. Plus, there's not much to do there, so hockey could be a possible draw. I really like the idea of a team in Salt Lake City...
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Salt Lake City is whiter than snow, so hockey ought to flourish there, but I think they've been having trouble getting the Grizzlies to draw. They got demoted to the ECHL, I think. I wonder if Portland and Seattle just aren't hockey towns, though.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 I like Seattle as location for a hockey team after Winnipeg, Quebec City, and Hartford. Even thought Wikipedua says Anaheim is a suburb of LA. the people of Orange County and LA wouldn't think so. Like I said before LA to Anaheim is NY to Long Island. Greatest logo ever would have to go the Detroit Red Wings. Attendance figures: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/attendance?year=2007 All I can say, poor St. Louis.
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Long Island is suburban New York, as is North Jersey and Fairfield County. Why can't people get this shit? It's not supposed to be this difficult.
Red Baron Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 I'm not surprised to see St. Louis with poor figures. The team was going downhill since 03.

Guest Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Speaking of which, they fired Mike Kitchen and hired Andy Murray. I really don't like Andy Murray.
Guest Princess Leena Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 He's not as big of a douche as the tennis Andy Murray.
the max Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Oh by the way, the Bruins 19 year old future, winger Phil Kessel has testicular cancer. http://cbs4boston.com/local/local_story_345230707.html
CanadianChris Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 I haven't seen any posts about it, but it looks like the search for Bob Gainey's daughter Laura has been called off after three days. She was working on the crew of a tall ship off the coast of Nova Scotia, and was thrown over the side by a giant wave.
CanadianGuitarist Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Oh by the way, the Bruins 19 year old future, winger Phil Kessel has testicular cancer. http://cbs4boston.com/local/local_story_345230707.html When was that announced? Every link I'd seen since Friday had said "unknown"...What a god damned shame for both the Kessel and Gainey families. I'm not expecting an very exciting game tonight between the B's and Habs with heavy hearts afoot.
Guest Princess Leena Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Grr, the Sabres play the Devils tonight. Not only does it seem like they always lose there, but I hate that ugly, dank pit. It's depressing watching games there.
the max Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 CG, I'm expecting the opposite tonight with the Habs/Bruins game. I think both teams are going to play an emotional game due to both teams having off-ice things being on their minds. I think the Habs win tonight, because quite frankly, the Bruins do not have a replacement the caliber of Kessel right now (sure he only has 9 points and is a -8, but his replacement is Yan Stastny) and the Habs haven't lost anyone on their roster. I'm thinking this will be an emotional game for both sides and will effect them worse for the next few weeks.
treble Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 I wonder how a team of Phil Kessels would do against a team of Lance Armstrongs.
CanadianChris Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 I wonder how a team of Phil Kessels would do against a team of Lance Armstrongs. Obscure TSM in-jokes RULE!
the max Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 Apparently the refs have decided that the Habs will not lose on Bob Gainey night. Alberts draws an interference penalty for playing defense, Chistov gets interference for Samsonov standing in his way, Savard gets tripping for being tripped by a Hab and having the Hab fall on him on the way down. Great night.
