Nice to see Delirious get into main event matches.

What's the big deal about Hagadorn? I've seen him a couple of times and I don't see anything there.

He's just a classic obnoxious prick lackey heel. Which he does well, his in-ring stuff leaves alot to be desired but he's good at the comedy, brawls and the crowd interaction.

What is Shingo like? Is he any good? The reaction seems to be fairly mixed so I'm interested to know what anybody here who has seen him thinks.

I can see the McGuinness vs Whitmer match being scrapped on the second night. Instead I whole heartedly expect them to be teaming with Delirious.

Shingo IS a mixed bag, which is expected from a guy with roughly 18 months under his belt. He had a fantastic rookie season, probably one of the BEST rookie seasons in pro wrestling.

I think Nigel/Whitmer would be almost too obvious. Keep in mind, Delirious is oblivious to what goes on around him. I'll call for Whitmer and Davey Richards. Leaving Jay against Nigel, which I think would be a first time match.

Yeah, you're probably right about the Delirious thing. In terms of progression with Delirious, they seem to be making him more aware over the passge of time. Bearing this in mind I'd say theres still an outside chance of Whitmer and Nigel being his partners, who knows really though.

I might have to try and track down some Dragon Gate and see the guy in action. I've been meaning to see some anyway after being throughly impressed with the guys that came over for the Milestone Series triple shot.

I know Danielson is having a "legendary/career" year, but does he really need to be feuding with Samoa Joe? They've wrestled each other many times in the past, a few already this year, wrestled in other feds, etc. I've always liked ROH, but there has been something about them that has always bothered me. They randomly put matches together that could draw pretty well. They have done this since their inception.

They need to seriously start elevating some new talent very quickly in my opinion. Since they've lost some of their key wrestlers from previous years (Styles/Gibson/Punk) they need new people to step up and be the big guys. Because in all honesty, Homicide is not all that impressive, Joe is not the same he was in 2004, and Danielson is running out of people to fight. I mean seriously, what are they going to do, have Danielson face just Joe/Strong/jobbers and a few other occasional people here and there? Does that make sense? I don't think so.

They need to be elevating people?

Um, kinda like how 2006 was the YEAR of Matt Sydal, Nigel McGuinness, Jimmy Jacobs, Delirious, Davey Richards, Briscoes (who are completely changed since their original run) and of course, the influx of Dragon Gate and NOAH superstars, including KENTA and Marufuji. They are building for the NOAH/ROH supershow with Joe against Morishima and the probable Joe/Kobashi II match.

ROH hasn't done the "random" matches for the sake of random matches since the former owner was sent away. Every match usually has a purpose.

Do you even follow ROH? It hasn't been remotely like that at all. Danielson spent the entire year battling Roderick Strong, Nigel McGuinness, Colt Cabana, Delirious with multiple rematches. He's wrestled Joe, TWICE this year. The 60 minute draw and the 20 minute street fight. Before that, they haven't wrestled since 2004. ROH has a tremendous amount of main eventers...

The "random" I was talking about were the four way matches. I don't follow ROH by tape per say, but I always catch the results. I just thought of it, ROH reminds me of ECW back in the day. When everyone hated everyone, and everyone had a few feuds at a time.

The four ways usually involve multiple issues at once or is just used for hot openers. That's basically the point of ROH, to have multiple things happening at once. You have guys like Jacobs feuding with BJ and Colt at the same time because of Lacey and it doesn't feel silly. Danielson still has Joe, Nigel and 'Cide marching after him and it doesn't feel forced.

ROH was built on dream matches but with a strong niche market attched and a steady profit, they can be old school in their execution.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I never really looked at it like that. Thanks for enlightening me.

I've always liked the four ways. ROH seems to use them for a good number of things. Such as for keeping people feuding with each other in contact without actually having to have them in one on one competition. Can be used to showcase someone that has potential but its still not certain if they're going to get a fulltime roster spot. Also keeps guys in the spotlight even if they're between anything particularly meaningful. I like that they can incorperate all of those aspects, just the one or can mix and match. It keeps the middle of the card pretty fresh.

I have to say while I do love ROH as a whole but I fear they are going to run out of steam very soon for many of the reasons that intensifier listed. AmDrag really doesn't have too many credible challengers left that he hasn't wrestled several times already. I suppose KENTA still has a rubber match coming but he is part time and from what ROH has said his availibility on 07 will be limited. So I guess Homicide better win at Final Batlle or ROH is a bit of trouble.

Pile that on top of AmDrags injury he kind of has to lose the belt. Maybe they have exaggerated his the injury?

Danielson is all but a lock to drop the title at FB. How can you say he has run out of challengers when you still got

Matt Sydal, Davey Richards, Briscoes, Shingo, BJ Whitmer/Jacobs (in singles) and Brent Albright. That would cover at least 3 more months, not to mention the constant influx of talent from NOAH and DG(and those who'll get dropped from WWE soon enough) Danielson's run has been even better then Joe's reign and still has a lot of momentum left in it, if it weren't for the fact he will be dropping the title to Homicide, whom will probably have a Dreamer like reign.

His injury is severe but he's able to work it out, which is why he'll be dropping the title and taking significant time. However, if he wasn't injured and the plan wasn't for Homicide to win with his career in ROH on the line in his hometown, Danielson could easily stretch this reign another 6 months.

Look at how many people ROH elevated to main event status this year. When players like Daniels, Aries, Strong and others are mid-card acts, it shows how strong the whole roster is. It has done fantastic with Delirious, Sydal, Whitmer and Jacobs in particular.

From the ROH Board:

Show opens, Cruise 'n the crew head out. Sydal is announced unable to compete. Damn.

Out comes Colt to explain what Lacey did tonight. In his words, he was spread eagle, and then Lacey took her heel, and shoved it into his junk. Sexual activity, okay. Urination, not so much. Soon enough, everyone and their mother is in the ring: SHINGO, Rave, Dragon, the Jimmys, and Lacey on one side, Delirious, Colt, BJ, Nigel, and Daizee on the other. The main event now turns into an 8-man elimination tag. In other news, it seems the Haze was able to locate her shoes from Friday night.

Ace Steel vs Tank Toland - Toland out first, lots of boos. Lots of "You're a dick!" chants. After 'Vastly Popular' Ace Steel comes out, we have ourselves a "Beat that dick!" chant going. Solid opener, much better suited matchup for Tank than Kikutaro last night. Ace takes this one with a quick roll up. Not a bad opener at all.

6 Man Mayhem is up next. I was more focused to see who the hell was coming out with Sydal out and changes to be made. Trik Davis comes out, cool. CJ comes out, okay, I guess he's back in the match as a replacement for someone. Then Pelle, who I thought was going to face Hagadorn. Then Irish Airborne come out followed by Kikutaro. Seems as if Cross was pulled, most likely to tag with Daniels later on. Kikutaro had a lot of great comedy spots in this one. He kept charging at I believe Trik who was in the corner, and got booted in the face at each attempt, looking pretty pissed after each try. So what does he do? Much to the delight of the crowd, whips Todd Sinclair at Trik to soften him up! Sadly, it went for naught as he got booted one more time after this. The finish saw Irish Airborne with their stomp/DVD combo. I must say, this was by far the best version of their finish they have ever performed in ROH. Concussion city with how hard the dropkick to the head was, followed by the DVD into the knees for the victory by Jake Crist.

Hagadorn comes out, with a noticeably different looking trophy than usual. He lists all the places that he's beaten Pelle before, and says he doesn't deserve a shot at the trophy. Pearce makes his way to the ring as well with the strap. Turns into a Pelle beat down, and Homicide comes to the make the save. We have an impromptu match on our hands, Homicide vs Hagadorn. Cide made quick work of Hagadorn with the Cop Killa. After the match, he told Pearce to forget the strap match. He saw the cage still in the truck in the back, and he wants him in the cage! We now have Pearce vs Homicide in the cage scheduled for later tonight! One thing to note, that during the match, Homicide pulled out his fork, but it was eventually dropped during the action. Todd Sinclair picked it up and put it in his pocket.

Joe vs Mark Briscoe. This ended up being a very hard hitting match, with back and forth stiff action. Very exciting all the way thru. Finish sees Briscoe sitting on the corner, as Joe hit's the jumping enzugiri/Pele kick, followed by a Musclebuster to a HUGE ovation from the crowd - everyone's absolutely more into tonight than the previous. Post match, Joe calls out NOAH for not answering his challenge yet. Nigel McGuinness has taken offense to this, as he comes out saying that if Joe has a problem with NOAH, then Joe's got a problem with him. Challenge is on.

Aries and Strong vs Daniels and Matt Cross. Accompanying the 2 were Sydal and school girl Allison tonight. Excellent tag team match, intense, explosive, and high flying. Cross hit a SSP off the corner to the floor onto everyone. Towards the end of the match, Roddy hit a running boot on Daniels that damn near decapitated the man. Heated finishing sequence saw Aries with the 450 for the win on Cross.

Cage up time, intermission - they got it up a little quicker than Friday, thankfully.

Homicide vs Pearce in the cage. Fairly bloody, Cide was opened up first. It came time for Homicide to bring out the fork, but he couldn't find it. Immediately the crowd jumped on Sinclair, as he denied having it. That son of a B. Post ref-bump, Homicide went into Sinclair's pocket and got the fork, stabbing the **** out of Pearce. Lots of "Fork Sinclair!" chants. Finish saw Homicide with 2 lariats, hitting Pearce in the back, then continuing his run and knocked him out from the front.

Cage came down in less than 10 minutes, sweet.

Jay Briscoes vs Davey Richards. This match was simply off the hook. I think this one might have been by favorite of the night, as I read was the case from RJ's thread. Insanely stiff. These 2 guys were simply on tonight, and the crowd ate up every second of it. Lots of near falls. Finally Jay took the bout with a B-E-A-UTIFUL Spike Jay Driller, but not after taking a few sick DDTs and bumps himself. I think this match stole the show.

8 Man Elimination Tag. Interesting entrances, as they played the intro of each man's song before finally fading to the captain's theme, then they all walked to the ring together. The building was hot for this. After the action started to get out of hand, Jimmy Jacobs pulled out the spike. BJ took control of it, and after he ran to attack Jimmy, he ducked, and spiked Lacey in the forehead who was arguing with Daizee on the apron. Jacobs immediately carried her to the back. He ran back to the ring and was DQ'ed after hitting BJ in his ankle with some chair shots. BJ would eventually tap to Rave's new leg lock not long after. After some more leg work on Nigel's bum ankle, he would tap as well. Wow, Rave stealing this one early. Colt got quick roll of SHINGO to eliminate him. We are down to 2 on 2. A throw back to Gut Check when Colt gets eliminated, as Danielson kicks Colt low while Sinclair is distracted, then Rave gets a quick rollup as it's now down to 2 on 1. Rave and Dragon were both standing int he ring together, staring at Delirious waiting for him to get into the ring. Goddammit Sinclair, get Dragon out of the ring. He was never tagged in. This is why Chicago hates you. Don't you dare shrug and wonder why we continue to boo you match after match. While Dragon is playing to the crowd on the apron, Delirious gets a quick pin with a sitout piledriver-ish pin for a quick 3. It's now down to captain vs captain. Intense back and forth action as the crowd is at the edge of their seats for this. The place is on fire. False finish after false finish. Delirious excaped the Mutilation and Chickenwing several times. After his second attempt at the Cobra stretch, Danielson tapped and the place exploded!!! Delirious picks up the win for himself and the team.

Amazing night of wrestling. I felt that Night 2 was far superior to Night 1. As with all of the hype the last few weeks about closing the year off right way in Chicago, they sure did. It was simply SPECTACULAR!!!. Heh.

6-8 weeks, unless they are overloaded with shows and mixing the dvd's becomes secondary. This should be out by late January.
