MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 Marvin got Ernest Gallo—as his best bet, no less. Too bad the guy was 98. The Best Bet made up for the fact he was 98..I got the original points...non best betted he would have only been worth 25. Im truly saddened..and will go find a bottle of wine made by one of his wineries (or whatever) and drink to his honor and stuff.

Funny thing is that his black sheep of a brother Joseph died like a few weeks before
Vern Gagne Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 I knew I had heard that name a few weeks ago.
Darthtiki Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 Eddie Robinson, former Head Coach of Grambling died today at 88
CanadianChris Posted April 4, 2007 Author Report Posted April 4, 2007 I think I remember someone had him last year...not this year, though.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 I had him last year, and this year in other pools. Not here because of the age bonus, though.
CanadianChris Posted April 9, 2007 Author Report Posted April 9, 2007 Goodbye, Johnny Hart (creator of the comic strip B.C.). Welcome to the game, Gosunkugi. Updated Standings - April 9, 2007 140 - Toshiaki Koala 90 - Cuban Linx, dh86, King Kamala Classic, MillenniumMan831, vivalaultra 50 - Gosunkugi, Marvinisalunatic, Sideburnious, Timmy8271, Will Scarlet 30 - UndertakerHart, v.2
Red Baron Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Really? Wow. RIP in one of the best comics ever.
CanadianChris Posted April 12, 2007 Author Report Posted April 12, 2007 didn't Sadaam die this year? No, he died late last year and everyone had until New Year's Eve to make a substitution.
CanadianChris Posted April 12, 2007 Author Report Posted April 12, 2007 Vonnegut, anyone, anyone? Lots of people have Kurt Angle. No one has Kurt Vonnegut.
CanadianChris Posted April 19, 2007 Author Report Posted April 19, 2007 What a weird coincidence -- Brant Parker, who co-created The Wizard of Id with Johnny Hart, died eight days after Hart. Kitty Carlisle died Tuesday...sadly (for me), one year too late. She was one of my best bets last year.
Red Baron Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 King Kamala had him as his best bet, and he was the only one that pic him.
CanadianChris Posted April 23, 2007 Author Report Posted April 23, 2007 No, Vampiro69 and treble had Yeltsin as well. We have a new leader! Updated Standings - April 23, 2007 150 - King Kamala Classic 140 - Toshiaki Koala 90 - Cuban Linx, dh86, MillenniumMan831, vivalaultra 50 - Gosunkugi, Marvinisalunatic, Sideburnious, Timmy8271, Will Scarlet 30 - treble, UndertakerHart, v.2, Vampiro69
King Kamala Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 YES! RIP Boris, you were one of my favorite presidents of any country ever. Whenever I saw that stock footage of you dancing, I laughed my ass off.
King Kamala Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Did anybody have David Halberstam? I'm assuming nobody did.
Darthtiki Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Jack Valenti, former lobbyist for the MPAA
CanadianChris Posted May 15, 2007 Author Report Posted May 15, 2007 Wow. I was dead certain someone did, but it doesn't look like it. I'll have to check my master sheet when I get home, though.
Toshiaki Koala Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Great news. I'd have preferred Pat Robertson but I'm definitely not gonna complain.
Vampiro69 Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 I believe it is too late for anyone to join.
CanadianChris Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 Nope, nobody had Falwell. Maybe everyone thought he'd hang around just to spite everyone, like what Fred Phelps does every day he's still alive. And yes, you missed the deadline by a mere 135 days.
