alfdogg 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2006 So after yesterday, we now have: Paul Pierce: out 2-3 weeks with stress fracture in foot Carmelo Anthony: out 13 more games due to suspension Yao Ming: out at least 6 weeks with broken bone in leg Lamar Odom: out at least a couple more weeks with sprained knee Shaquille O'Neal: still out due to surgery, no clue when he'll be back Nenad Krstic: out for season with torn ACL Peja Stojakovic/David West: out for presumably most of the season with surgery Rashard Lewis: out at least 2 months due to surgery on his hand Chris Bosh: out due to knee injury At this rate, we'll end up with Justin Timberlake and Master P starting in the All-Star game. Artest on the Clippers would just be a sick frontcourt. Toronto winning the Atlantic, I could see that happening, they are a fun team to watch and certainly look a lot better than they did (playing together) earlier in the season. Josh Childress still out with a broken foot, Josh Smith out at least a month when he had hernia surgery the other day, ZaZa Pachulia sprained his elbow, Tyrone Lue has a slight tear in his groin, Sheldon Williams has a dislocated shoulderbut is playing through it, Marvin Williams reinjured his broken hand but is playing through it, and Speedy Claxton has the dreaded back spasms. The only way they can salvage things is if Bobby Jackson comes back ASAP and either David West or Peja comes back within a month. I think this is a better year for them to miss the playoffs anyway, as picking up a lottery choice in this draft is probably better than ensuring they end up picking at #17 or so after getting ass-raped by the Mavericks, Suns, or Spurs in the 1st round. Of course, it helps when the Rockets are basically depending on Mutombo and Chuck Hayes for all their rebounding. And would you believe, the only Pacer to start every game this year: JAMAAL TINSLEY. They have enough solid defenders out there to disrupt the opponents, but no one can score or handle the ball consistently. Edit: I see that T-Mac returned though. Must've just been one of those games for the Rockets. They're good for at least 5 absolutely hideous games a year based on how they play. Look for Lawrence Frank to get fined by the league for any bitching he does. I saw the final play, and he doesn;t have that much of a case. Vince Carter took an off-balance shot and it did not fall. Shocking. I think every decent team is good for at least five horrible games a year where they either can;t throw it into the ocean, the refs are just going to call the game a certain way, or they just don;t have it defensively. It's awfully easy to pick up an injury like that when you're in his situation, which is where you're carrying the weight of an entire team on your back. It should have been called one way or the other. The dreaded no call just makes the Nets angry because they missed, and Detroit would have been just as pissed had the shot gone in and they lost. Chauncey did the same thing on the play before, except that he was knocked down. That's life in the NBA... sometimes you get the calls, sometimes you don't. Carter also had plenty of time to set up and take a shot which would have been wide open, but instead he threw up a wild shot and waited for the refs to bail him out, when a foul would have put him on the line anyway whether he was shooting or not. Either way, that shouldn't be a foul on Wallace, Carter bowled him right over. Although I personally would have loved for it to be called, because Wallace may have killed that poor referee. If I'm Sacramento and can swing a Bibby-for-Miller trade, I'd do it in a second and try to tough it out with Artest a little longer, because Miller will see that he and Martin both get enough touches to keep them happy. Bibby seems more interested in just creating for himself. Also, Carmelo Anthony is apparently spending his time away from the court taking boxing classes, according to the Boston Herald.
