Craig Th 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2006 Well, it looks like WP was wrong. Rocky didn't do that well. Nope, you're wrong. Too soon to tell. And how am I wrong? Well Rocky didn't do well opening weekend and WP said it would. Rocky will win because it'll be a great, inspiration movie.. Now he did say: Even if it weren't to win the first week it would still win the overall box office thing because of people rewatching the flick. But he does think it will do well OW, which it did not. He does say it will do well in the long one from staying power, so I guess I am half wrong here. But like you said, it will make about $50 million. We really shouldn't be posting the box office reports until the Monday numbers come in Yeah, it would be a good idea. So when Monday comes, post away. However, I don't think too many people go to movies on X-Mas. The last time X-Mas fell on a Monday was in 2000. And other than the #1 and #2 movies, which Rocky is not, the rest of the movies didn't do that much better. Actually, in 2000, the Grinch Whole Stole X-Mas was number 3 on Sunday and fell to number 4 after the Monday numbers. I am not saying this will happen again with Rocky, but it could. I can't check 95 or 89, the last 2 times X-Mas fell on a Monday, because I can't find the numbers for it. Basically, the only movies that do well on a Monday X-Mas day are #1 and #2. Well, atleast from the 2000 data.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2006 And how am I wrong? Well Rocky didn't do well opening weekend and WP said it would. It did fairly well. It's already made 22 million. The movie only cost 25 million. This is without the Christmas Day estimate. There's also a whole week where people go to the movies. It will make a nice profit. But he does think it will do well OW, which it did not. He does say it will do well in the long one from staying power, so I guess I am half wrong here. But like you said, it will make about $50 million. It did well. A dead and buried franchise starring a guy who hasn't had a hit in 10+ years making 22 million- I'd say that's pretty good. And XMas Eve is a weak day for movie going. Many theatres close early. However, I don't think too many people go to movies on X-Mas. XMas is generally considered a popular movie going today. XMas Eve is not. Rocky's doing fine
ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2006 22 million in 5 days is fine, especially for Rocky Balboa. This is a movie that everyone thought would be a Gigli level bomb when it was announced. Plus the movie was actually really good.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2006 So how much did Black Christmas make today? I dont know why they didnt just put it out on Friday, its not like it was going to do big business anyway. I Saw the original a while back on HDNet Movies as well as the making of the new one on HDNet and I can say that it didnt really need to be remade. It was stupid from the start, although I suppose when the whole "THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE!" part, I didnt realize Black Christmas came out 5 years before When a Stranger Calls so its not as bad as I initially thought in regards to that point. If they REALLY wanted to remake a christmas horror film...SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT would have been awesome. xAnd remember that thread about franchises that got milked for no reason..I cant believe there were 4 sequels to SNDN..the first sequel was about half flashbacks from the first movie.
