CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2007 Montreal would be glad to get Carter, well mainly I. Ken Dryden should be Canada's next prime minister. Your support is about nine weeks late. Ottawa's back on the ice tonight against the Caps, who they've struggled with this year (1-2 is struggling by Senator standards), but have taken four of the last five from Washington at the Corel Centre. Mike Fisher is back, and Gerber will get the nod in net.
the max 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2007 Bruins call up David Krejci. They play the Sabres tonight, so...7-1? 8-1? Shutout? It's all looking good. I'm gonna go hang myself.

Hey, as long as they fight to the end, Dave Lewis is happy. They'll somehow get the 8 seed and be absolutely humiliated in the first round.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2007 Why are the Habs suddenly retiring all these numbers?
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2007 Maybe because of Gillett owning the team now. I'm surprised they don't have a ceremony every week. With their history, they probably could.
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Report post Posted January 31, 2007 Why are the Habs suddenly retiring all these numbers? Because they can. They're the Habs. I'm surprised there's even room for more banners in Le Centre Bell. Million dollar question: do they raise #33?
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2007 Beacuse there are a lot of good players in Montreal history. Up until 1979, then there are few good players in between. Probably in 2025, Brian Skrudland and Mats Naslund will have their number retired.
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Report post Posted January 31, 2007 What about Roy, Chelios, Gainey, Carbonneau, C. Lemieux? I thought it wasn't until Roy left that the Canadiens totally fell apart.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2007 What about Roy, Chelios, Gainey, Carbonneau, C. Lemieux? I thought it wasn't until Roy left that the Canadiens totally fell apart. Yes and no. They missed the playoffs in Roy's last full season as a Hab (and I use the term "full season" loosely, as it was the 48-gamer), and they did make the playoffs in 95-96 (after he was gone), as well as 96-97 and 97-98. Don't forget Houle also traded away Recchi, Damphousse and Turgeon.....My God, he fucking traded Patrick Roy within a month on the job.
Guest Report post Posted January 31, 2007 The only 2 of the aforementioned I think they should retire are Roy and Gainey.
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Report post Posted January 31, 2007 I agree about Gainey, not sure on Roy. I was just naming distinguished Canadiens since '79. Chelios and Lemieux are great players, but not retired-number guys for Montreal. Oh, and part of the reason they're retiring so many numbers is to build up for the 100th anniversary in two years, I think. They'll get the ASG that year, too. I bet it'll be fun. I assume this was supposed to be in a joking manner......but it's 6-1 right now. And Krejci got taken out on top of it. They were called for FOUR penalties in the first TWO MINUTES of the game! I'm surprised there's even room for more banners in Le Centre Bell. Million dollar question: do they raise #33? Absolutely they do, unless Roy doesn't want anything to do with it. The guy basically won them two Cups by himself. Well, not really, but it sure seemed like it, especially in 1993.
the max 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2007 7-1 is your final. I had the Sabres feed on XM. Rick Jeanerette should have his throat cut out. The Bruins were getting housed, which made it harder to listen to, but his obnoxious SCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRE after every Sabres goal almost made me throw my $200 XM receiver out the window. PS- Hockey gods, go fuck yourselves.
the max 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2007 Let's play stats: - The last 18 games, Petr Tenkrat's line: 0-1-1. -6 - Chistov: 11 games, 0 points. -8. - Axelsson has 1 goal in 15 games since he came back from injury and is a minus-11. And he's a "top line left-winger". - Mowers is 0-2-2 and a -4 in his last 13 games - Primeau is 1-2-3 and a -6 in his last 11 games - Donovan is 1-3-4 and a -8 in his last 22 games - Brad Boyes is 0-0-0 in his last 14 games. - Bergeron has 4 points in 9 games and is a -9 in that span. - Before tonight's assist, Savard had gone three games without a point. I'm going to go to bed. Hopefully when I wake up tomorrow morning, there will be a talented offensive player on the Boston Bruins.

He did that when the Sabres smushed the Kings last year 10-1. It was beyond annoying.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted January 31, 2007 Jeanerette is awful when he gets excited. He was really bad back in the Mogilny/LaFontaine days.
KGB 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2007 "MAY DAY! MAY DAY! MAY DAY!" X3000 Anyway, Antrosuck had a two goal night and the 2nd one was pretty sweet. Was behind the goal and had a Carolina player coming at him so he banked the puck off the boards behind him and it came back to his other side and then he came out and placed the puck in between Ward and the goalpost. Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2007 MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY!!! If Montreal were to retire some numbers, Gainey and Roy would be the only ones left. I really can't think of anyone else. Koivu is a tremendous leader and it really shows in the playoffs. You can take last year, how he was injured, the team collapsed without his presence. If he wins a cup for Montreal, then maybe have his jersey retired on the rafters. Oh and how about Craig Conroy, two goals last night.

bob_barron 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2007 I still think it's weird that the Leafs have only retired two numbers, and instead "honour" jerseys. Maybe they'll come around to it like the Habs did.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2007 Jeanerette is awful when he gets excited. He was really bad back in the Mogilny/LaFontaine days. You're the only Sabres fan alive who thinks that. It's refreshing, as Sabres fans are the only ones who actually like the fuckin guy.
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Report post Posted January 31, 2007 It's silly for the Leafs to hold back on retiring numbers outright. It's not like football where the position requirements mean you might run out of numbers, because anyone can use 0 through 98 (and 00?) irrespective of position. I think the current policy is killed/injured in action, which I suppose is sort of neat, but that limits you to Tim Horton, basically.
Guest Report post Posted January 31, 2007 Oh and how about Craig Conroy, two goals last night. I bet my dad 20 bucks that he would pot one. After the first, we did a double or nothing.
