k thx 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 I'm tempted by going to Prima Vera festival in Spain as it's cheap and hot. All that's been announced so far is the ATP stage with the following bands: -BAND OF HORSES -BRIGHTBLACK MORNING LIGHT -BUILT TO SPILL -COMETS ON FIRE perform the album Blue Cathedral -DEATH VESSEL -DIRTY THREE -THE DURUTTI COLUMN -GRIZZLY BEAR -ISIS -LOW -MELVINS perform the album Houdini -MODEST MOUSE -OAKLEY HALL -PELICAN -SLINT perform the album Spiderland Some I've heard of, but not heard anything by. Are these any good?
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 Never heard of most of them. Modest Mouse, the Melvins, and Slint are all decent from what I have heard. i haveheard of Built to Spill, but I can't recall any of their songs.
Special K 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 Modest Mouse is really bad live, even if you like them.
Guest Legalise Drugs and Murder Report post Posted February 4, 2007 Isis and Pelican are both excellent, and I'd imagine Slint would be good as well, since that's a super album.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 Modest Mouse is really bad live, even if you like them. Haven't you seen them only one time? We've been over this before. For the most part, Modest Mouse is really good live but sometimes Isaac Brock (singer/guitarist) drinks too much & drags the show down considerably. This is NOT a regular thing, but it does happen. Also, Johnny Marr plays with them now, for whatever that might be worth to you. ISIS is awesome.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 Grizzly Bear put out a decent album this year (Yellow House) and were great when I saw them open for the Books. Pelican and Slint would both probably be awesome, especially the latter. I would love to see them play that album in sequence, because it'd probably be the most cathartic and soul-wrecking thing ever.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 -BUILT TO SPILL -COMETS ON FIRE perform the album Blue Cathedral -DIRTY THREE -ISIS -LOW -PELICAN -SLINT perform the album Spiderland Some I've heard of, but not heard anything by. Are these any good? These are the ones I know and like. Are more bands playing entire albums live? I know that's been a thing with ATP, lately; Dirty Three, Isis and Low have done it at past ATP festivals. Slint, too, so this would be their second time. C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 The Melvins are okay, in a sloppy, Sub Pop kind of way.

More bands should really make it a habit, especially if they have an album that defined their career, or had something groundbreaking, exceptional, etc. Every band I've seen perform a signature record live in sequence has been very entertaining. The Flamboyance 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 You'd be making a mistake to not see Comets On Fire. Melvins should be fun live too, as well as Modest Mouse.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Oh, I forgot to mention I liked the album Brightblack Morning Light put out last year, but I can't vouch for them live. I saw them open for Bonnie Prince Billy a couple of years ago and thought they were dreadful.

snuffbox 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 I wish that tour would come to Madison. I'm still holding out hope that ISIS gets added to Bonnaroo.
Special K 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 Well in that case. You know, if I see a band twice, and they stink both times? I'm not going to rush out to see them again. And if the singer is too drunk to perform (not the case in this situation, as far as I know), then fuck 'em. Both times I saw them, they took WAY too long in between songs fiddling around, and they sounded very sloppy. I saw Echo and the Bunnymen, and the lead singer was so fucking drunk, he stopped songs in the middle to go off on tirades. THat's shoddy and unprofessional. I mean I saw QotSA live where they were just shit-faced, and they still did a great job.
Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 Isis and Jesu on tour? Sign me up. Also, I really wish I lived in Spain, because this lineup is (mostly) too awesome for words.
