Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 Mike Sanders? Yep, that's who I was thinking of. Matt Striker is like Mike Sanders. I'm still waiting for Striker or anyone really to match that awesome debut Sanders had on Thunder in WCW. Sanders like Striker was a tremendous promo (although Striker isn't close to Sanders, yet at least) and either are exactly great workers. I still enjoy the fact Striker only has a job because he lied and it got press coverage. Otherwise he'd still be doing small indies.

Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 He only got the job with WWE because he got a little publicity for getting fired from the school when he didn't inform them that he was a independent worker and would call in sick because of his bookings. Vince liked the publicity and gave him a try out and he got hired.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 I thought Vince was in love with the unibrow.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 I still don't get how they have passed up the easy AIRPLANE joke with him. I figured Vince is so far behind the times, that he would think it was fresh and original.

I figured Vince is so far behind the times, that he would think it was fresh and original. Yeah, but Airplane is old enough and has enough of a following to not fall into Vince's M.O. I'm more surprised that Super Crazy hasn't been given a YO QUIERO TACO BELL gimmick.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 They ripped off Airplane around a month ago w/ HBK "translating" Cryme Tyme.
Mecca 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 I'm so glad I didn't watch that ECW show. Van Dam jobbing to Elijah Burke. His career has hit a new low. Previously it was jobbing to the likes of Dupree and Suzuki in 2004 on Smackdown. Do they not realize that it doesn't even get a guy over when you job out a guy so obviously better to him? Even the dumbest idiot in the crowd would raise an eyebrow at that result, so the end result isn't "Wow, Elijah Burke is a real up and comer, what a great win over a former world champion." It's more like "Jesus, what did Van Dam DO to lose to this guy?" See Jordan, Orlando vs. Benoit, Chris from the 2005 Great American Bash for reference. He gave his notice.......he's going to continue to get jobbed unless they agree to a new contract, standard practice.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 I know that, which is why I've been practically begging for RVD to feign some sort of knee or shoulder injury and get off TV. This sort of stupid, spiteful bullshit wrecks careers. Jericho had some sort of minor injury at the tail end of his WCW run and it spared him a good 3 months of pointless jobbing. Why do people simply agree to be mega jobbed out? It's not like for instance The Giant at the end of his WCW run, where he stayed mostly in the mix and lost a match to Nash on Nitro. Or Flair in 1993 when he lost a Loser Leave Town match to Hennig. Having a guy do 1 notable job on his way out can get a guy over and also keep his momentum going as he enters a new fed. Jobbing a guy for 6 months only serves to kill the guy's career and doesn't get anyone over. It's stupid.

Maybe I remember it incorrectly, but when his contract was nearly up in late 2003 I could have sworn he was given a decent IC title run as an incentive to re-sign, rather than just being jobbed until he did. He wasn't in a position to go to another company that has TV......he also hadn't gotten arrested while being champion. Thing's have changed........
