Chiller Network coming March 1st

Chiller - Dare to watch!

Chiller is launching March 1st on Directv Channel 257 (and probably other platforms in the near future). While Sleuth focused on the mystery genre, Chiller will focus on the horror/wierd genre with programming such as Twin Peaks, Freddy's Nightmares, Friday the 13th: The Series, Tales From the Crypt, G vs E, American Gothic (my personal fave out of all of em) and Alfred Hitchcock Presents, along with movies in the same genre like Psycho. And, yes, eventually it will be in HD just like Sleuth will be..but for now I doubt I'll watch anything save for American Gothic.

I know its on Directv, but I never watch it.

They should have combined the two channels..I just took a look at the listings for Chiller for a couple days and its pretty much the same episode of each show that they air replayed over and over each day. They do have some interesting movies but nothing Im going to watch in 4:3 SD directv overcompressed crappy pq.

Dish has Sleuth network. I catch a Night Rider every once in awhile.

The problem with this brand of channel is that they buy the rights to so few programs/movies that there is probably 5 total shows aired per day and are put on a continuous cycle. I mean really, there should be enough cheap-end horror/thriller/weird movies to fill up an entire evening/night/late night with, so that at the most you are repeating shows only twice during the day, IF THAT.

Also, Movies and Tales From The Crypt will always be half-assed on these networks due to editing, while shows that were made for Network TV in the first place will be more worth watching(Freddys Nightmares, Friday the 13th Series, etc...)

Personally I am still reeling after the total DEMISE of the Horror Channel and it's decision to become an online broadband channel only. After a couple of failed launches, and a few years of leaving their fans hanging, they ended up firing a bunch of execs and management, and changed course to become a broadband channel..... :(

I'm going to piss off a lot of people here, I know, but I've been pissing you guys off for like five years now, so what the hey.

Horror is probably the most unredeeming and uncompelling genre of film ever. I can't fathom its popularity. Horror movies are worthless to me at face value, and I don't celebrate the kitsch or the camp. It's just bilge. I can't suspend my disbelief enough or long enough for them to elicit whatever the desired reaction is.

I couldn't agree with you more...frankly, the genre bores me....other than the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, I love those. However, as I said earlier, I did like Tales From the Crypt, but Mike is right: it'll be edited so bad it's not even worth bothehring with.

The Shining is being aired commercial free at 9...Im sure its edited though. Its not been on UHD but I notice that some of the movies have been.

The episode of Tales from the Crypt on right now has Daniel Craig in it from 1996.

Tales of the Crypt might be okay, but I just mean the movies. Of the few horror movies I've seen (not by my own volition, I was just going with the flow), I've never gotten up at the end, stretched, and thought "boy, I'm glad I watched that." I don't know how other people enjoy them, let alone celebrate the entire horror genre.

I agree at least with modern horror films all it is one director after another upping the body count and the creatively gory ways to die instead of being a good mindfuck that builds suspense or has some form of evil monster. The Saw series while not doing anything for me was something that could have been something special at least on the technical side with having each installment directed by a first time helmer, but instead we get more of the same with the same guy since II.

Do you mean todays horror movies like Saw, or are you seriously saying that movies like Psycho and Clockwork Orange are uncompelling?
