Is there less good wrestlers now?

Then there was in the mid 90s?

Think about it. WCW had a massive roster of over 100 guys and had the best midcard ever. WWF had a solid crew, as did ECW. Their were a select few indys that were good, plus overseas promotions.

Compare that to today. TNA has a relatively small roster, and WWE's roster isnt huge like WCW's was.

Most of the guys in ROH and the indys today, while good wrestlers couldnt get over on a TV promotion. For whatever reason, but a lot of that has to be with them being small and relatively weak on the mic.

I just think that compared to the mid 90s, there is a lot less wrestlers out there with a legitimate shot at getting in WWE

There are probably just as many or more that can work a good match out there, but that doesn't mean they're TV ready at least in the eyes of those in charge.

It's hard to tell, just because of the style. The late 90's boom has led to awesome puro-light indy wrestlers are ripping it up, and because of the intranets, they're getting, (at least slightly) their due.

It's just so hard to tell, without an encyclpedic knowledge. I'll say early 90's puro was the shit, and American wrestling was doing very admirably. So that's my vote.

97-ish is definitely the best of televised US stuff, IMO, but that's really limiting the scale of what you're taking into consideration.
