luke-o Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Dude, i never said it would make him a star, i just said it looked funny. It will wear off soon enough. And looking back over what i've said, im pretty much right, apart from where i said it could make him a star. It wont. But at least there giving the X divison guys some character rather than just a random group of people.
King Cucaracha Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 The fans won't see Jay Lethal as a wrestler who has draw dropping signature moves sadly the only reaction he will get is a few laughs for doing the Randy Savage impersonation which is going to keep him at the bottom of the card. They saw it already. They didn't care. Well, that's not strictly true. He got that 'Lethal Weapon' chant now and then. But if Lethal were over in the first place as himself, which was what he started out with, they wouldn't have given him this gimmick, surely? Besides, in terms of 'draw' dropping signature moves, he's way down the list in the X-Division. He's not that worker. He's not that special on the mic either (this coming from a fan of his btw, albeit a fan of his in Ring Of Honor). He got over in ROH with a feud with Joe. Despite my hopes, they never did anything in TNA. Limited as his career prospects may be, at least people actually know he's there now, before he was just a faceless X guy. There's a simple way out if they want to take it.
razazteca Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 I thought he was the guy who wore Misawa's colors of Green & White. But seriously Jay Lethal works well as the underdog in matches.
luke-o Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Classic example of that was his match against JJ last year for the NWA world title.
TNABaddboi Posted April 1, 2007 Author Report Posted April 1, 2007 Classic example of that was his match against JJ last year for the NWA world title. That was a great TV match. If they ever do a best of Impact DVD, which I'm sure is coming, that's got to be on there. The only others that jump out at me like that one are the X-D six man from the first show of 2006, the Daniels-Joe title match from the first Thursday Impact and the Christian-Rhino cage match from the first primetime show.

I always liked the Ultimate X rematch they had on the show after Bound for Glory 2005.
Corkscrew_Senton Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Classic example of that was his match against JJ last year for the NWA world title. That was something from last summer I really wish they had run with. Lethal was really over at that point, and I would have preferred him rather than Sabin chasing Low Ki for the X Title. Then when Jay wins the belt, a jealous Sabin turns heel. Would have made much more sense than Chris' completely arbitrary turn after BFG.
