Tiger has a really good chance to be in the last group with Appleby tomorrow. All it'll take is another bogey by Taylor.

 

There isn't anyone on the leaderboard I want to see win this tournament more than Stuey, though.

What in the hell happened to Appleby? I went out to get something to eat and came back and he went from -1 to +2??!?!

 

Looks like Tiger will back into another major championship as everyone else decides to screw around on the golf course. This final round could be interesting tomorrow though if someone at +4 thru +6 shoots a round of 65 or 66 but with the weather conditions as they are I just don't see that happening.

Retief is now T-9 after making the cut on the number yesterday. Not bad.

Tomorrow should be better as there will be little wind.

 

However, I'm fully expecting Tiger to shoot a sloppy-looking 70, and everyone else folds. And some guy early in the day shoots 65 and finishes 2nd. Too bad Adam Scott missed the cut, and couldn't accomplish this.

I'd normally be worried about Phil, but he's driving the ball way too shitty to make a run. He's been fortunate scoring wise the last 2 days.

Phil Mickelson is far more accomplished than Art Wall, but four bogeys, two birdies, then playing 15-18 two under is not a Masters-winning formula.

I think if someone can come out early tomorrow and shoot a number to get to even par as Nick Faldo was saying at the end of Saturday's broadcast they have a chance of winning this thing. As I previously stated, I don't really think that's going to happen but it's going to be an interesting Sunday to say the least. I just want to see some new blood win a major championship and I'd love to see Appleby or Justin Rose take it all. However, we'll probably get "Tiger grinds out E and the rest of the field crumbles" version #849 and he'll win.

Looks like Zach Johnson will win this Masters at +1 with Woods needing to hole in a second shot from the 18th to tie. I thought Retief was going to take it today but he just couldn't buy a putt on the back nine.

And why did he have to start celebrating like hes won when Rose only had to birdie one of the last 2 holes to forse a play off.

Someone might have gotten word to him that Rose plucked his ball in the fairway of the 15th hole on 17. I dunno. I'm just glad someone decided to post a number today and drain some putts and stand up to Tiger rather than just acting like sitting ducks waiting for him to get some momentum and post a decent number of his own.

 

Also, is it just me or does Tiger come off sometimes as a sore loser? Like in his interview he's honest about why he lost the tournament but didn't really say anything about Johnson's performance. There was no "Zach was putting up a good number and I couldn't catch it" or whatever.

Yeah, I'm disappointed with Zach being a God boy... well, at least he wasn't too bad with that, though.

 

Tiger is always a sore loser, but he's right. He plays well, he wins. I just liked the irony of him bitching about bogeying 17 and 18 twice this week... yet, that was fine and dandy when he did it in 2005, with that lucky win over DiMarco.

Par on 16 was the most harmful of everything that happened, but of what you mentioned, definitely par on 17 was the worst.

 

Getting par on 15 was extremely lucky.

I'd say par on 11 was also lucky for Tiger as his ball was nestled nearly up against a tree and he broke his 5 iron hitting the ball out and then played a beatiful up and down shot to save par.

 

A lot of players really have a lot to shake their head over today. Goosen missed some critical putts down the stretch and his decision to lay up on 13 and 15 may cause him some nightmares tonight although its always risky to go for it in 2 on both holes. Also, Justin Rose has to shake his head after starting off terrible with two double bogeys in his first six holes.

The bogeys on 17 and 18 yesterday were Tiger's undoing. If he pars them both, he's in a playoff. Of course, if he'd shown up today with a one shot lead, it might have played out very differently.

 

Zach Johnson as Masters champion? Unexpected would be putting it mildly. He has to be the most unheralded champion since Larry Mize.

In Major history? No where even close.

Even more unheralded than Mize... Mize was really good in the mid-late 80s. But, Johnson isn't some scrub. He's just a late bloomer that had to slowly grind his way on tour. To dominate the entire year like he did in 2003 on the Nationwide Tour, that's no fluke. And he's been a high ranked player after that, although a bit streaky on the PGA.

Boo Weekley is about to win the Heritage and that awful plaid jacket. Good for him to come back and win so soon after missing that putt at the Honda Classic.
