Tony149 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2007 (edited) Let's all try to leave some feedback for this one, no matter how half-assed since it's probably our best show ever. Onto the feedback... AngleMania rebounded in a big way after last year's show was viewed as lackluster. It also had the best presentation of any OAOAST show with all the use of pics and emoticons. Riggs vs. Wolfenstein: Fast-paced opener with lots of action. Thumbs up. Moneymaker & Wright vs. COD: Bravo! Standing ovation for Patty, who managed to do the impossible by outdoing himself yet again. The intros, match, "don't read my sign" and boner gags were gold. Street vs. Lindsay: Placing Thomas as the referee added a sense of intrigue, and lead to highway robbery. I smell rematch. TLC vs. Caboose & Some Guy: Nice homage to HBK's WM XII intro with SG. The OAOAST Originals lose but are consoled by the crowd afterwards. Theme of the night apparently, as another pair of Originals would receive the same gesture. Cortez vs. Rodez: Leon busting out a new theme song, at least for his intro. Marked for Mama Said Knock You Out and Call that Bitch Bojangles. It's been awhile since we've read that. Alf vs. TK: Rebel against the name change from Skydome to Rogers Centre! All action with some cool high spots. Pantera got his revenge there at the end. I guess that sets up the angle Alf talked about months ago. Should be interesting. Blonds vs. D*LUX: As short as the match was, it featured high energy (not the tag team) and a great post-match angle. One of a three legit shockers of the night (Krista/Mackie kiss, Jade's turn and the ME). MITB Battle Royal: Jobber intros! But it made Mr. Warrior's entrance all the better. Now I wanna see Warrior and Nerdly battle for the title at next year's Anglepalooza. Rip off Warrior/Slaughter! Anyway, fun match. Glad I got to put somebody over on the way out, and yes, Black T are done. Didn't expect Landon to win (thought Bo would), but it made sense. Or did it? See the ME. PR vs. DDD: There were a lot of people involved, but PR somehow managed to give them all something to do. 20 minutes is probably too long, especially right before the ME, but that's just being nitpicky. Nice touching having the guest ref explain the rules before the match. Unfortunately for DDD, it was the closest he got to the X-Title! Malibu vs. Stone: Wow. Just wow. Lived up to the billing. History made all over the place. Zack's streak broken, Stone going Triple H by retaining the title. Perhaps the most epic AM main event of all-time. No match of the night honors as all of them deserve praise. Excellent job! Edited April 4, 2007 by Tony149
Ed Wood Caulfield 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2007 (edited) I didn't expect the ending AT ALL. I'm absolutely serious. Best AngleMania ever? Maybe. It's definitley a Top 3 AngleMania for sure. More later. Edited April 3, 2007 by Ed Wood Caulfield
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2007 MITB is now in! It's certainly something. I'll be reading the show when I have a spare month. Meanwhile, I need sleep. Bad.
Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 Half assed way out of order feedback! I used to consider AM 4 the best of the AM's, but I think this one topped it. Very nice writing overall. It had a “big show” feel which we might have been lacking last year. I must give the usual credits to Papacita for his fine graphical work. Tony did a great job with the layout and presentation. Crisp, clean and smart. Fine promo work from Alf. And good stuff from Tony with Stuart Scott and The Rockers, and Ally and her outfit wrecking the Enterprise crazed training program. It's a good thing Ned wasn't around for that one, he would've melted into a puddle EWC put in some work at AM. I thought the x title match was the best of his three solid matches. The ending kept DDD looking strong and leaves the possibility of a rematch open. A very good night for the Lightening Crew, they'll have a lot to brag about on HD. I sure didn't expect the 24/7 title to change hands in the middle of a battle royal. But that's what makes it such an unpredictable title! I wonder if any jealousies will erupt between those LC members without a title and those with one. Speaking of the MITB, poor Abdullah, all the talk of eliminating Bo, and being the guaranteed winner of the match gone to waste with an elimination before the thing even started. Such is the life of a Nerdly male. Tony had told me the Anderson Cup would be the last time we ever saw Black T, but it's probably better they went out at AM instead. Anyway, I like reading battle royals much more then I like watching them, and this one was no exception. Nice work. Alf/TK was a good fast paced bout. Even after Alf turned on Pantera earlier it never occurred in my little mind that he'd come back and cost Alf the match. I just thought Alf was writing off the character. I figured Riggs would beat Wolfenstien, and he made quick work out of him at that. Now it's time for JR to move onto bigger and better things and possibily title contention, so sayeth Patty the prince of the e-fed. Rockers vs Sooner Bruisers: A semi-happy ending to one of the longest rivalries on the oaoast. The hated Bruisers went down, but unfortunately they took Holly-wood with them. Great to have Melody and The Gunslingers get involved. I LOL at the ending kiss, that's probably the first time Melody has kissed a man who's not wearing prosthetic Vulcan ears. And even The Enterprise's hired goons, Los Conquestiadors got an Anglemania payday! Good show here. Cortez vs. Rodez: Whitesnake, man. Did not think I would hear, read, whatever, that song outside of a Kansas City karaoke bar. The bout worked very well in the context of Leon's character, he never went crazy and tried to injure Cortez the way that The Urban Legend did to him, he just focused on getting payback through victory in a strong comeback match. Unfortunately his night was ruined when his little sis ran off with The Enterprise. But sometimes life just sucks, dude. Would love to hear Jade's explanation for her surprising actions. Stone Vs Malibu was well worth the year long wait, and had a very shocking ending. I think that's the first time the world title didn't change hands at Anglemania. It'll be interesting to see where the feud goes from here, and if they'll get into any “high risk” match types. I wouldn't mind seeing those two in a survive or surrender match. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Riggs/Wolfenstein: Solid opener with lots of quick, hard-hitting action. I liked it. Good segment with the Enterprise, as usual. They've got a big night ahead of them. Ending was good, as well, the .gif was a nice touch. Loved the tag title match. Several LOL moments to go with great action. Really enjoyed it. And proof that the OAOAST really breaks the bank to bring in the special guest celebrities, it's Stuart Scott! Good promo with the HR's. First title change of the night! Ashley put up a good fight, but the odds were just too much to overcome. Good bit from Big Frank. He doesn't appear to be taken back by Logan's bravado. Sin City Street Fight was my kind of match. Lots of fast paced, heavy-hitting action with lots of weaponry involved. And a Rick Martel sighting! Interested to see if the kiss at the end between Logan and Melody leads anywhere. Let's see HBK slide down from the roof of a DOME. Very good handicap match, the legends handled the odds as long as they could, but in the end it was VX's night. Good stuff. Can't go wrong with Whitesnake. Hot return match for Leon, as he came back seeking revenge and got it. That's what you want to see at the biggest show of the year. D*LUX was on a roll...until the Blonds bail? Leading, of course, to more goodness from the Enterprise. Jade Rodez, bought and paid for! A stunner, just as Tony said. Battle Royal time! Good match, but the real story is the end of Black T. Another AngleMania moment to remember, for sure. Tremendous X-title final. It was a nice run for DDD, but PRL's been in the zone, as were the Lightning crew tonight. I'd say after his run that DDD probably deserved a better sendoff than he got tonight, but I'll wait and see if a feud brews from this. I, like probably everyone else, was surprised that Drek retained here. Really good match, which did seem a little short, but given the problems we had with part of the match disappearing mysteriously, you can't really hold anything against them. This one isn't over, by a long shot.
