What does it mean when the image on your monitor turns a hue of light

Every once in a while, for seemingly no reason, the image on my computer monitor will turn a shade of light blue. Any idea what's causing this and what I can do to fix it?

my monitor did that just before it died. You might need a new one.

Yeah, it sounds like the monitor may be on it's last legs.

Depending on your monitor, but it could also be the connection. Check the pins at the end of the cable that plugs in to the PC. If some of them are bent, slightly crooked, or altogether broken, then you might be able to just replace that and be fine. This happened to me before.

Bah. Okay. I bought the thing used off of eBay, so I figured it wasn't long for this world anyway. The fact that the blueness goes away if I turn it off for a while gives me a little hope, though.
