Atticus Chaos 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2007 I'm a bit shocked captivity flopped as badly as it did. I thought it would get into to the top 10 at least. It seems controversy doesn't equal cash after all.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2007 They only opened the film on 1,000 screens and I don't think the controversy generated enough coverage to sell tickets.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2007 I'm missing what was so controversial about Captivity in the first place. Plus, yeah, it was on only 1,000 screens, so it never had a chance to do much in the first place. For what its worth, I was going to go see it but it wasnt playing nearby so......oh well. Vigo 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2007 Don't bother seeing Captivity. It sucks. One of those movies, which leaves you shaking your head at its stupidity while you're watching it. It's not even laughingly bad, like for example "The Wicker Man" with Nicolas Cage is. It's just shit.

Didn't Borat get to number 1 only playing on around 1000 screens? Borat had a ton of hype. This thread is the first I've heard of Captivity.

dubq 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2007 Isn't Captivity just another Saw-like movie? At least from the trailer I saw, it was. I'll pass on that, thanks.
Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2007 Isn't Captivity just another Saw-like movie? At least from the trailer I saw, it was. I'll pass on that, thanks. The reviews have been abysmal. I'm pretty glad that it tanked, since I'm sick to death of torture flicks.
