I knew Transformers was doing well, but I wasn't thinking it was at $262m already.

Die Hard's also doing better than I thought it would.

STILL happy to see Knocked Up making money.

Sandler's last 5 straight comedies (except for 8 Crazy Nights) have done $100m + in the US. Even that awful little turd called Anger Management. Oddly enough the Wedding Singer didn't make it

It saddens me that Ratatouille is going to have to fight just to get to 200 million. It's such a great film.

It'll do great in DVD sales, which will make up the difference. I actually thought Hairspray would do better since Chuck and Larry were ripped in reviews but Sandler isn't damaged by bad reviews.

Bear in mind Wedding Singer was Sandler's first hit. Before that he starred in Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, neither of which exactly lit up the box office (though they have fans now). If anything the success of Wedding Singer led to his even bigger success later in 1998 with Waterboy.

I'm pretty sure Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore hit well on video, so as I would have thought that Wedding Singer did better than it did. Anyway, I have zero interest in Chuck and Larry.

I still need to see Transformers, Die Hard, and Pirates 3

Chuck and Larry was really funny, much better then I expected and a lot better then Sandler's recent outings.

Billy Madison made 25 mil and Happy Gilmore made 38. Wedding Singer was his first box office success.

Hairspray falling 15% from Friday to Saturday was a little troubling, but I think it should have a successful road ahead of it. It's a really fun movie that should get word of mouth.

I think Harry Potter held up well considering it faced competition from the 7th book. I think it will top POA and Chamber, but not GOF and Philosopher's Stone.

Chuck and Larry was the first time we actually had to leave the first theatre we went to (got there at 9:40 for a 10:05 show) to go to another theatre down the road (for the 10:15 show) because of a sell out. The other theatre ended up selling out too (one of my friends that was running late pulled the old "get a different movie ticket" trick). I've never had a Tuesday night sell-out, especially for the late showing. It's worth noting that there is some sort of gay week thing going on here though, maybe that was a factor?

Anyway, very funny movie.

Chuck and Larry was the weakest opening for a live action Sandler comedy since Little Nicky.

Didn't Chuck and Larry make first week almost what Nicky did total though?
