My mom got a master's in library sciences from USF. I feel a tingle of pride.

The game's going almost exactly like last year's upset in Morgantown. One of White/Slaton gets tweaked and isn't 100%, USF's defense brings lots of smartly placed pressure and keeps taking the ball away. I like it.

Depends on how you look at it. Last year, they were 7-4 and just hoping to play spoiler. This year, that win gives them realistic Big East title hopes, and maybe even a glimmer of hope of sneaking into the national title picture with some favourable results from other teams.

I don't know about you guys, but while this was a big win for USF, I think last year's win over WVU AT Morgantown was a bit bigger.

Every win is big for idiots wanting to get on television.

USF got a big win and hopefully they keep it rolling. I mean, unless most of the top teams fall they aren't going to get into the title game, but it would be kind of cool to see them playing in a BCS game.

"Favourable" being an understatement...

Depending on where USF lands after this win in the Harris and Coach's poll, they'll probably have to hope that USC, Wisconsin, Ohio State, LSU, Florida, Oklahoma and Boston College all lose one, or two in the cases of favorites with perceived tough schedules like USC, Florida, and LSU, to pull it off.

That was one ugly, ugly game. Turnovers galore. Yeah USF won tonight but really was this all that impressive? Pat White was knocked out of the game. From what I've seen of USF this year they have way too inconsistent of an offense and a truly horrid kicking game, so there's no way in hell they are going to win the Big East. I can't see them winning at Rutgers, and someone like Cincy will beat them in Tampa.

Cincy is the best team I've seen on both sides of the ball in the Big East.

As far as having a bad kicking game and winning goes, look at Florida State. It makes little difference.

You can also win with an inconsistent offense. You aren't telling us anything that means "no way in hell will they win the Big East." It's a shitty conference anyway, and I'd be lying if I said I cared.

Yeah, the Rutgers who has beaten nobody, West Virginia who we found out a lot about tonight, Cincinnati who played a junk Pac 10 team, a Connecticut team whose best non-conference win was over Duke and barely could beat Temple, a Louisville team that everyone knows is a pile of shit without direction to guide it, and a Pitt team that beat Grambling and East Michigan compromises the 2nd rated conference. The only team that doesn't need to be ran down is South Florida, because they've actually done something worth being recorded and talked about.

Those rankings are fucking terrible. That's not how football works and we all know it. They are rated 2nd and have the 11th highest ranked SOS of all the conferences? Please.

"Here's your steak, sir, well done."

"THAT AIN'T TRUE!"

My favorite take on this was "Mike Gundy Reviews Great American Literature"

"Grapes of wrath? THAT AIN'T TRUE! There are no grapes!"

"That whale did everything right! I'm a man! Call ME Ishmael!"

The FCS playoffs will increase to 18 teams for the 2008 season, up from 16 with the Northeast Conference getting an automatic bid now.

For notable scores...

Delaware State is leading #13 Hampton 17-13 at the half.

San Diego is killing Butler 42-3 at the half and #7 Southern Illinois is annihilating Indiana State 65-10 in the 3rd quarter.

LSU is just this today's ranked team teasing an upset lost but ends up winning with a comfortable 14-20 point margain. Poor ND, they can't even score on Purdue.

Why? Purdue is probably the best non-hyped team of the Big Ten and a good shot to win the conference.

Posted

Illinois might have a shot to win the conference, they beat Penn State 27-20. Let the JoePa retirement talk pick up steam again.

Boston College only up 17-14 on UMass in the 3rd.

Posted
I only said Purdue because they're still undefeated. Illinois has a loss.

but Illinois is unbeaten in Big Ten play though, so they have a fair shot of winning the Big Ten

By the Way how did Michigan do today

Posted

Michigan State and Wisconsin are tied early, but State is the one moving the ball and has it deep in Badger territory.

TD Mich State, 13-7 pending PAT with 2:23 left in the first.

This is continuing the ESPN-speak for "WTF is going on in the Big Ten?!?", as Wiscy is down, Penn State has lost 2 in the league, and Michigan got a scare from a bad Northwestern team because they still haven't figured out the spread.

Colorado is only back 24-17 on OU with 11 minutes left in the fourth.

They've also got the ball at about midfield.

EDIT-

Down to the OU 27 with 9 minutes left.

You may want to turn on FSN and check this one out.

CU misses a chip-shot FG, but gets the ball back on an INT on the next play.

CU has it deep in OU territory with about 6 minutes to go.

EDIT- INT under review, but it was tipped before the INT and it looked like CU's guy had it first, so it will likely remain an INT.

EDIT 2- INT stands, CU ball with 6:28.
