Guest Gym Class Fallout Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 How is Jimmy Rollins not dominating the NL MVP category? Because people are basing it on stats, which don't accurately reflect what Rollins means to the 2007 Phillies. Excuse me, but I think Aaron Rowand will handle the fire and the passion in Philadelphia.
Spaceman Spiff Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Oops, my bad, I forgot to factor in Rowand's VOFP. EDIT: I mean VORFP.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 1. Magglio Ordóñez, Tigers 2. Alex Rodriguez, Yankees you've got some splainin' to do. I know A-Rod will win MVP, but I felt we were allowed to put a slight bit of personal bias in these votes. As a life-long Red Sox fan, it pained me to write a Yankee in at all, even though I know he will win this one and the real one.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Oops, my bad, I forgot to factor in Rowand's VOFP. Alls Jim Thome ever does is get on base. Howzat gonna score Scotty Pods?
CanadianChris Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 Changed my NL MVP vote after last night's game.
milliondollarchamp Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 I'm still sticking with Rollins
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 2, 2007 Author Report Posted October 2, 2007 For reference, here is the tally for Matt Holliday during the Rockies' 14 of 15 stretch. .442 batting average, .532 OBP, .846 slugging. Playing in 13 games he scored 16 runs and drove in 17. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/gl.cg...t=b#547:559:sum

strummer Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Because he's not better than David Wright. As Bored mentioned in his blog, it's a shame the writers will ignore Wright as he was all kinds of awesome this year and probably had the best offensive season in Mets history
Guest Gym Class Fallout Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 NL MOY: 1. Bob Melvin (defying the laws of Pythagoras) In which way did Bob Melvin, the man himself, "defy the laws of Pythagoras"? They gave up more runs than they scored because they can't score well and get blown out often, and when they do duck-fart their way to a late lead, they win close games with Lyon and Valverde. What did Bob Melvin personally do to contribute to this, other than signal to his capable bullpen? Are we doling out awards for come-hither gestures?
vivalaultra Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Hrm...I don't think managers do all that much to contribute to a team's wins above and beyond the talent level of that team. However, I figured I might as well go with the guy who manages the team that, despite giving up more runs than it scored, won 11 games more than they were projected to win, lead the league in wins, and did it on the relative cheap with lesser-known players. The part in parentheses wasn't meant to be attatched to Bob Melvin himself, but to the worthless, fanless Dbags in general.

Guest Smues Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Chipper came in 5th in the NL MVP, go Braves! Oh and the only real surprise was that A-rod didn't win MVP unanimously. It must be because he's not a true Yankee.
CanadianChris Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 If A-Rod doesn't win the real award unanimously, I'll be stunned. Or I would if I didn't already think a lot of the writers are idiots.
