Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 Sarcasm is tough to detect online sometimes, but did you just say it was cool to be a deadbeat dad and not have a role in your childs life until they are older because the pregnancy wasn't planned? No, what I'm saying is I don't understand what people can reasonably expect out of Brady in this situation, and why he's being labeled a deadbeat dad and shit like that. I've never heard anything from Bridget Moynahan bashing Brady and it seems like people in this thread are just jumping to conclusions. I'll repeat, without an involved relationship with the mother what kind of father can you expect him to be? I don't think he'd be a very good one. Throw in his schedule as an NFL player and her schedule as an actress and he's reduced to being that guy that the kid sees once or twice a month. What can he realistically offer that's of any benefit to the mother or the child? Put yourself in their shoes. Why do people just assume that the kid or the mother would be better off with a long-distance father who's just barely involved, or act like they know what goes on between the "parents"? As Czech said, "step up and be a dad for a few months"?? What the fuck is that? Being a parent is a HUGE responsibility, and it's not something anyone can half step. If they aren't committed to the mother or the child the kid is better off without them. Personally, if I were in his shoes I think I'd do what I could to be involved with the kid, but not doing so doesn't make him a villain. Irresponsible, sure. But this isn't like Shawn Kemp serially impregnating girls or Jason Caffey doing it and bailing on child support.
Maztinho 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 Yeah... that post didn't pull you out of anything. Czech's comment was Leinart now has the ability to spend more time with his kid, should he choose to do so, is valid and should be read with a sense of humor. And your logic of "all or nothing" being better than some has no fabric to it. Studies have shown (I know studies show everything, but this makes sense) that even some active involvement from the non-custodial parent is better overall for the kids well being. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 Detroit was doing pretty well for a while there. Pistons and Red Wings were at the top of their leagues, Tigers got to the World Series, it all sort of collapsed then.

Fuck 'pulling me out of anything'. There ain't shit wrong with what I said. And I'd love to see sources on these 'studies' you're claiming. A non-custodial parent in a divorce, where the child has already spent time knowing them as a parent, yes, obviously they need to remain in the picture and I'm sure there are volumes of research that would back that up. But a father who was never in the picture after the conception? Nah. The kid is better off with a single mother or with whatever man she marries who wants to take on the responsibility than an absentee father like Brady would be. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted November 16, 2007 Bump on this topic as the C's still haven't lost a game. And also to bring up a really good point I heard today on Deadspin- San Francisco is like the anti-Boston. Check it. This has been brought up before, but in the wake of this whole Barry Bonds business, it's worth mentioning: The San Francisco bay area is going through the worst stretch of sports news in recent memory. They're like the anti-Boston. Let's see, we've got: • Bonds. • Neither the 49ers or Raiders have won a game in a month. • The Warriors are the only winless team in the NBA. • After a nice start, Cal has collapsed. And their fans are falling out of trees. We're spending Thanksgiving with our sister in the Bay Area. We hope our plane doesn't crash.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2007 FUCK Boston for their treatment of Antoine Walker. Antoine got shit on alot at the start of his career but that was his own fault for all the bitching and whining. Towards the end he took more responsability for things and to be honest he's one of those athletes that will never have to buy a drink around here again. In my eyes he's the NBA equivilant of Fred Lynn in this city.
