EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2007 This is now the all-purpose "Kill the ref" thread. Really now. This has the potential to become more nauseating than the ESPN thread. And that is saying something. A bunch of football fans bitching about calls as if their sport matters. And NBA fans after every single game. And Yankee fans of course. Fuckin' you're more nauseating than the ESPN thread. This is an idiotic response. We don't care about your opinion as thread or sport judge here, al, you just have to moderate your precious baseball threads and ignore everything else. Really. That's all we're asking. Please. My my, someone's a little sensitive. I'm only expressing my opinion as a poster, not a moderator. Sport fans going off about bad calls in general are generally tiresome people. There is about one time in a hundred where the complaints are truly warranted.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 2, 2007 Considerably speaking, I know you were expressing your opinion as a poster, and that's doubly annoying since you were giving an irrelevant opinion to a thread (formerly) dedicated to a sport we know you don't care for. Again, just please stick to moderating what you're interested in, I could give a shit about English soccer, or college basketball, so I don't poke my head into those threads and bitch about the sport. That's not really necessary, and your being a mod kind of makes it worse, except for the fact that we thankfully at least have Agent around here to balance you out. Either way, bad calls are a part of sports, and sport fans going off about bad calls are tied to the very nature of them. Personally speaking, I'm of the opinion that a bad call is irrelevant since your team should have played better to not have to worry about that being the deciding factor. For example, this Green Bay/Dallas game- yes those calls against Green Bay and the discrepancy in penalties makes it seem like a good excuse for the Packers to blame their loss on them, however Dallas had a SURE touchdown get reversed on a challenge in the 2nd quarter, and then they just went ahead and scored on the next play. That's the sign of a good team, when they can outplay not just the other team, but the bad calls that might go against them as well. Green Bay's secondary (I'm looking at you, Atari Bigby and Jarrett Bush) and Favre's two interceptions at the beginning of the game are what made us lose- the calls just gave them better opportunities to come out victorious, but ultimately it's the team's job to keep them the fuck out of the endzone. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2007 Is this the thread where we should be saying how obvious it was that the refs in the Pittsburgh/West Virginia game were instructed to do whatever it took to get WV a win in a game they obviously deserved to lose? I was amazed Pitt was still able to beat a team with seven extra players on its roster dressed in black and white.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 That's a pretty lame thing to do Al, just because you don't like football. I'd expect more out of a moderator. I always wondered why you made baseball threads about ANYTHING 365 days a year. Football games that happen in real life matter a lot more than Al's offseason baseball simulation league. Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Jesus people, lets all shit on Al because he doesn't like the thread! BAD CALL KEIPER ASS WIPER! There. Now: Was that really undisputible evidence to overturn that Incomplete pass in the endzone for NY?

I took one cheap shot. It's hardly an organized campaign. Yeah but your job is to moderate, not derail a thread. The lack of a force out call today in the Cleveland game was horrible. That should be Cleveland's win right there. That could be the difference between whether they go to the playoffs or not.
Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Jesus people, lets all shit on Al because he doesn't like the thread! BAD CALL KEIPER ASS WIPER! There. Now: Was that really undisputible evidence to overturn that Incomplete pass in the endzone for NY? No, it wasn't, and what pissed me off more was that Joe Buck said that there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call, Troy said that situations like these are why the challenge system is bad for football, then when New York got the touchdown, Joe said "you really have to feel that they got this call right" and Troy added that it was clearly a catch (wasn't). They couldn't engage in an act of verbal hypocrisy any faster than they did. Joe Buck is such an amateur.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 That was a catch though. No where did it look like the ball hit the ground.
Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Yes it did. It hit the grass behind his hands and bounced into his chest. You can tell by the way it bounced. There was no clear evidence on that play that warranted overturning the ruling on the field. Maybe Aikman was on to something at first before he 180ed with Joe. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 I disagree. On all angles it looked like it hit his forearm, like he was saying it did.

That could be the difference between whether they go to the playoffs or not. As a Browns fan it's going to be out of character for me to say this, but... While that was a bullshit call, the Browns also got a TD they shouldn't have when they didn't overturn the 67-yard Braylon Edwards reception where they didn't rule him down by contact. But at least before the review that's one you can see them missing. How two guys can make contact with a receiver, one driving him backwards full-force with a shoulder, and you not see it when you're standing three feet away from it boggles my mind.
