Heading out to close on some big sales

Recommended Posts

My car won't start this morning, not even a clicking sound. I was headed on a long trip to close four deals which would pay me a decent amount and allow me to hit my year end validation numbers. I spent the early morning getting ready, packing up my things, dismantling my dog's kennel and getting her things ready, then loading the car. The trip was going to be to my parents' house two hours away to drop off the dog, drive 45 minutes to close the first two deals, drive back to my parent's house, then meet with the other two people. I have called to touch base with everyone, but due to their schedules, I won't be able to get down their in time. It wouldn't be so bad if today wasn't the deadline on closing these cases due to a 90 day enrollment period.

My only hope is that it is just a dead battery (which I have under warranty), and when my neighbor gets home we can boost it and go get it replaced. I would hate to pay to have it towed to a shop where they are going to charge an arm and a leg to hook it up to their computer and make me pay outrageous prices for whatever part is bad. As for my four cases, I can only hope that I can meet with them early Monday and date the paperwork for today. This sucks!

It wasn't my choice. The employees of this group I am working with had 90 days to enroll in our Long Term Care package. They were given the cutoff dates. A ot of people wanted to wait to the last minute. I would have signed everyone up on day one and had no problem doing so. I can't make people sign up early.

not even clicking = usually the battery. had it been super-uber-cold there? some cars don't like that sort of thing. not that i'm an expert or anything.

If it's a water battery, make sure it has water. It sounds like a dead battery though. Usually if it at least clicks, then the battery is good, just drained of power.

I figured it was the battery, but fearing it was a bad alternator. It ended up being the battery. I bought a new battery after getting a boost, just in case.

Renting a car wouldn't have been bad at all as far as costs go, because the pay out would be much greater than the cost of renting said car. However, I lived on the phone today and worked out the closing of the deals for over the weekend and EARLY Monday morning. That way, I can get back to my office on Monday morning and just have the files dated for today.
