Guest My Pal, the Tortoise Report post Posted January 1, 2008 Time to watch the Illini get absolutely slaughtered. WOOOO BRING BACK THE CHIEF indeed.

Kinetic 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 I anticipate an "OMG TEBOW HEISMANCURSE2008!!!" reaction from certain sports media outlets, but this one was all on the defense. Florida scored 35 and didn't turn the ball over; 9 times out of 10, you win that game. That was just a putrid defensive performance by Florida.
Kinetic 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 Aficianados will recall that this was not Edwin's first trip to Jacksonville this season:
Smartly Pretty 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 Yeesh the Gator Bowl is almost half empty. Graham Harrell has now thrown two intentional groundings in the endzone for safties. Jacksonville is a terrible sports city. I really like living here, but there's no reason to put sporting events here, because we just don't fucking go. Granted, this was Texas Tech vs Virginia, but it's still a bowl game.

Bored 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 It's 42-10, time for the human interest stories! Unless you have Vince Young at quarterback you just can't fuck with USC in bowl games it seems.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 I'd like to think The Rose Bowl people will learn that tradition for the sake of tradition isn't conducive to a quality game but they won't.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 Did ABC name their #1 player on their "Top 25 College Players" list? I went for a run and have only watched a bit of the game.

Jaxxson Mayhem 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 Fucking defense fucked up the game. There is no reason Florida should have lost that game. Also, as much as I really fucking hate georgia, I hope they beat hawaii into submission. I'm sick of hawaii being hyped up as undefeated.

Guest My Pal, the Tortoise Report post Posted January 2, 2008 as much as I really fucking hate georgia, I hope they beat hawaii into submission. I'm sick of hawaii being hyped up as undefeated. It's not perfect, really, but there's a lot of cool stuff happening. (8:45:59 PM): I'm checking out a few minutes of the Sugar Bowl before I go over to hockey game #2 of the day. I'm guessing this is like last year, where the retarded cheer on Georgia so as to deny a "non-established" school any glory? (8:46:13 PM): and by extension, more cries for a playoff? (8:48:21 PM): Essentially Doin' it for the six important conferences.

Bored 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 Hawaii simply isn't as good as Boise State was last year or Utah was in 2004 and they are running into a team that was playing probably better than anyone by the end of the year. The Rose Bowl really should have dumped the tradition nonsense this year and picked Georgia over Illinois.

I imagine this has been mentioned before, but the Rose Bowl could not have picked Georgia unless the Sugar Bowl allowed them to.
Bored 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 Actually it hadn't been brought up at all and I hadn't read anything of the sort until I just did a quick Google search to confirm what you claimed and you are right. A bowl choosing a replacement team may not select any of the following: A. A team in the NCG; B. The host team for another BCS Bowl; C. When two bowls lose host teams, then the bowl losing the number one team may not select a replacement team from the same Conference as the number two team, unless the bowl losing the number two team consents. Really stupid rule. On the other hand though even if the rule didn't exist odds are the Rose Bowl would have stuck with tradition.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 The two teams per conference for the BCS Bowls is another stupid rule. Missouri would have given USC a better fight.

(8:48:21 PM): Essentially Doin' it for the six important conferences. It's not to deny glory, it's more to shove it in that bitch ass coach's face. Talk down on Tebow to get more attention for your player? Suck a dick. If he was that good, you wouldn't need to say shit just to get him in the spotlight. He's proving tonight he's not as good as you say he is.

Also, as much as I really fucking hate georgia, I hope they beat hawaii into submission. I'm sick of hawaii being hyped up as undefeated. I don't know about that. If anything, Michigan should've won by more (4 turnovers to Florida's none, with 2 close to the goal-line). Harvin killed UM, but that was about it. Tebow only averaged 3.5 yards per rush and barely completed over 50% of his passes. Michigan finally showed an offensive identity (a healthy Henne and Hart helped) and it worked. MFer 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 Any chance that USC or Georgia (or Oklahoma or VT if they win big) get that #1 vote from the AP?
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 No. Let's be honest all USC did was squash the piss out of a team that had zero business being in the BCS. Illinois is a nice Outback Bowl level team, or Capital One team. That Rose Bowl was a farce on paper and it was a farce when actually played. It wasn't hard to see this coming from Hawaii. Though to be honest with the goofy 2 teams from a conf. rule I don't know who you put in that spot instead. Missouri got utterly whored by the BCS of course, yet Kansas at 11-1 should probably be in as well. Why choose Kansas over Missouri if you're the Orange Bowl? Is their fanbase that much more substantial? But here's reality: Hawaii hasn't been much all year. They have needed miracle luck to beat the likes of Louisiana Tech, San Jose St., Nevada, and a Pac 10 jobber like Washington. Hawaii is more like a 9-3 or 8-4 team talent wise that got lucky as hell and ended up 12-0 and in the BCS. Boise St. wasn't like that last year or their other great year in 2004....they largely wrecked their inferior opponents. Utah in 2004 was a badass team that crushed people.
